I've ridden several BTRs and Le Vampire seemed to be slightly more intense than the others if anything. Of course, I hadn't eaten for 12 hours before I rode which could have had something to do with it.
As an engineer, I wouldn't expect the length of the train to have much effect on the life of the train. Weight per axle or per car is what would count, not total train weight. A lighter train would reduce wear somewhat on the track, the lift, and the brakes.
Judging by the length of the queue when I rode, Vampire could have used the extra car.
