Valleyfair will fire up Xtreme Swing Monday with Rockettes

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Members of the World Famous Radio City Rockettes will help "kick-off" the new Xtreme Swing at Valleyfair on Monday, December 19, 2005, at approximately 12:30 p.m. (CST). The ride then takes flight with Jolly Old St. Nick on board. This is the first ride in the park's 29-year history to debut in the winter.

Remember Vertigo???
Oh my god, was it cold today in Minnesota. If it got up to 0 at any point in the day I would be very surprised. I can't believe they rode it today, but pics are up at Valleyfair.com

The Vertigo incident had nothing to do with cold air. It happened due to vortex shedding when the wind blew a certain way, aggravated by the way the ride was rigged in the off season. The tower would have collapsed if it was 90 degrees.
... a little clip was available on Sportcenter's top 10 this evening if anyone cares. The show will be replayed tomorrow morning but if you watch Sportcenter just to see a 20 second clip of a flat ride you have issued LOL! ;)
Yep, came in at #10 for today's top plays. I guess anyone who'd ride it in that kind of weather does deserve recognition.
Why does Cedar Fair continue to neglect Knott's Berry Farm, which they own, by giving the press information like this. Knott's had the ride first, Valleyfair has it first (this year), and I am certain that Cedar Point will be the "first" to have it next year. Everyone knows that Knott's had the ride first.
It was a slow news day yesterday which certainly helped Cedar Fair. That seaplane that crashed down here was the "big" national story.

I was watching the Weather Channel a few minutes ago and they had a blurb on the new ride even. Of course, they couldn't pronounce Shakopee but it was still some free exposure.

Well, if CF was going for national attention, they at least got it in the Pittsburgh area. KDKA just showed Santa on the ride but no Rockettes.
