This past Saturday I was at the valleyfair pass holder preview day to check out all of the new offerings. It was a gloomy but that did not stop me. I started my trip off with pair of rain rides on Renegade one in the back the other in the middle and is it already hauling through the course. I then decided to pick something up to eat. I went to the coasters diner by Wild Thing and Xtreme Swing and got some chicken and Mac and cheese and the food was solid. They changed up the recipe for the chicken over the off-season and got rid of the old weirdly seasoned and dry chicken that used to be there. I then went and did a back row ride on wild thing and it was just as I remember. Loud, with airtime and a slow second half. Afterwards I went towards Steel Venom which was probably the longest for all of the coasters that day. I rode in row three and luckily by then it had stopped raining. Steel Venom is a fun and intense ride and is the only impulse with the holding brake still which makes a unique attraction. During that time we also did Delirious the parks Larson Looper, and honestly I kind of like these rides. I know that they are all over the place but it gives the park a unique flat ride that broadens the lineup and diversifies it. After that I went back to Renegade and did another back row ride on it, this time I did not get stapled which was nice. I then did Power Tower and both sides of it as well. That one is extra annoying because the ride takes forever to load and one can’t go until the other is done. I prefer the blue side over the red side because I get some strong floater at the top. The last ride of my trip was a final back row ride on Wild Thing which was very fun. Overall here is my final synopsis on the day.
Renegade: 3
Wild Thing: 2
Steel Venom: 1
Delirious: 1
Power Tower: 2
A couple things that I would like to touch on is some of the new offerings at the park. The first one I want to mention is the new freestyle machine at the front of the park which has so many more options than at the rest of the locations. There is a unique one that I tried which was a Coca Cola Creme Soda which was very good. Another new thing is the new Xtreme Confectionery. I did not try any of the offerings but the menu looked really good. It is a shame that I cannot use my dining plan there. Lastly I want to talk about the new nanocoasters which I got for myself at the park. They look fantastic and are fun to build. The two coasters that the models are of are Renegade and Wild Thing. The Renegade one was especially difficult because of the tight turns and crossovers. After building those two I now have 19 nanocoaster models on display in my room and they look great with the other ones.
