Valleyfair (Opening Day-5/10/03)

Well not much to say in the trip report probably will be a short one. I have been going to Valleyfair every year for opening day before Wild Thing opened up. I also have been working with the park for about 9 years now.

Steel Venom
Now for those of you who are wondering about Steel Venom. Dont be surprized to here this. Steel Venom will be down on May 10th & 11th. It will be open next weekend. The reason is it didnt start this morning. Probably a power failure. So hopefuly next weekend I'll be able to ride it. Also in order to enter Steel Venom & challange park you'll need to enter at the front gate and walk all the way around under Wild Thing turn around. Go to www.valleyfair.com for info.

I did manage to ride Wild Thing, High Roller and Power Tower which were great. On Power Tower there was only one Turbo Drop open. There are so many new changes in the park. The enterprize que line is different also the Red Garter is now like a sports bar were you can watch TV (Sports Ext). And by Red Garter there's a new trapmoleen were kid's can jump. I was hopeping to see some CBuzzer's there I did run into someone. I hope to ride Steel Venom next weekend and it was nice to see everyone working there again. That's all.

We were there too, just got home - 2 hours was plenty of time, the park was nearly empty! Pluses were walk-ons for Wild Thing, no mid-course brakes on High Roller and seeing Dick Kinzel walking the grounds (99% certain it was him). *Major* bummer of course was pulling into the gates and being greeted by very prominent signs announcing that Steel Venom is down today and tomorrow, hope it's running next weekend. All in all it was a fun start to the season, new DDR Extreme machine as well.

I just got back also... I was disappointed to see that SV wasn't open, especially after the hype on the local TV stations for the past week. Wild Thing was great to start out with though.

I would have stayed longer, but Game 1 of Wild vs. Mighty Ducks is on...

I was just about to go to VF today but a couple of days ago my friend cancelled and he decided not to go, but I guess its a good thing I didnt go because SV is down. I will probobly go somtime next week when it will hopefully be open!
