Valleyfair adding Flying Eagles and All Wheels Extreme for 2016

Posted | Contributed by sws

From the Valleyfair site:

Next year, Valleyfair will mark its 40th anniversary with a season-long celebration that includes the return of an original park favorite and the renovation of a popular entertainment venue to feature an all-new extreme sports show. Throwback-inspired events and parties will also be part of the line-up as the park celebrates their legacy and heritage in the Twin Cities market.

Time To Earn Your Wings! A Valleyfair original makes its return in 2016! Guests will have a chance to earn their wings as the park reintroduces the Flying Eagles. Part of the park's original ride package in 1976, the Flying Eagles will once again become a family favorite for parents and children alike.

The planes will glide 28 feet above the ground and allow each rider to uniquely control their flight experience. The Flying Eagles will be nested between Route 76 and Enterprise.

New Venue Makes Way For New Entertainment - Valleyfair's outdoor amphitheater has played host to a number of well-known artists over the past forty years. Starting this fall, the space will undergo a complete renovation for future events including an all-new extreme sports show in 2016.

All Wheels Extreme, a finalist on NBC's hit show "America's Got Talent" brings its high-flying extreme sports show to Valleyfair. The show will feature some of the top professional inline skaters, skateboarders and BMX bicycle performers in the world. Dancers, trampoline artists and aerialists add a theatrical element to create a one of a kind production that will excite audiences of all ages.

Good stuff for the park. I had the pleasure to make my first-ever trip up there (from Columbus, Ohio) back in August and we had a great time.

I think with Flyers going into Valleyfair, Worlds of Fun and Wonderland now that means that all Cedar Fair amusement parks, except Gilroy Gardens will have a Flying Scooter now.

I thought Gilroy Gardens (Bonfante when I went) was a management deal and not outright ownership...

As for Valleyfair, my offer of 10-12 years ago stands....offer some brakeless ERT on High Roller and I'll be on the next flight!

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Yes, Gilroy is a management lease (or something of that sort). Much like Camp Snoopy at Mall of America, before their lease expired and it became Nick Universe.

But back to my original point, I think that all of the main Cedar Fair Parks have a Flying Scooter now after the 2016 season starts.

Between the scooters at Cedar Fair parks and the Fireballs at Six Flags, Larson has been making some good money in the past couple years.

Coasterbuzz - Coaster enthusiasts, but so much more. We're the good ones.

And those aren't the only installations, either. Add Elitch, Hershey, Indiana Beach, Jungle Jack's, Frontier City, Castle, Storyland, Darien, Morey's, Kentucky Kingdom, and I don't know where else. But it's clear that right now it sure doesn't suck to be them.
Larson's first portable Flying Scooters, which is owned by N.A.M.E., made its debut at last year's NY State Fair, and they're currently making more of those to supply to other carnival operators.

So I guess the old saw is true- everything old really is new again.

And on that note, we cue the complaining that VF didn't get a coaster.

Of course, these are the same people who tear up tickets and throw temper tantrums at free events, so I can't say I'm surprised.

And actually, didn't someone say that they expected VF to put in a giant frisbee? Guess not...

And the cue is Price is Right fail sound.
The Minnesotans are way too nice to rip up and throw things, you betcha.

Who's complaining here? Do we have to bring up Dave's poor behavior in every topic now? No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes.

Any park that doesn't have Flying Eagles type ride by now needs one. I am beginning to consider those to be a staple ride for any park. Although, they do still terrify me. lol

"No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes"

Seriously?

That's all you got?

What planet do you hail from?

Seriously. I'd really like to know. Because I'm curious where anything remotely like disrespecting a person by throwing something in their face is simply accepted as a mistake.

You gotta be kidding me!

Ban me Jeff.

No one is going to get banned for just disagreeing with me. HAHA! If that were the case, no one would be left. You don't have to be so dramatic, buddy.

Everyone does the best they can, even if their best sucks. I often have trouble explaining this kind of thing to people. I have studied the subject of happiness for about ten years now, but I don't seem to be a good mentor for the subject, I'm afraid. I have taught myself something that I have trouble teaching others.

There is no excuse for Dave's behavior. That doesn't mean people have to repeatedly beat him up over it. He killed his reputation all by himself. It sounds to me like he has anger issues, but is that my business? He yelled at me the first day I met him. It stuck with me, but this has been the only time I have ever mentioned it. I forgive him for it.

Do we really know that free media events are being stopped because of this one guy's bad attitude? Is he just a scapegoat? Doesn't it make more sense that Cedar Fair realized that these events are just not worth the money they invest into it?

And I could be wrong. Maybe someone heard something from someone, or something? :)

I think the Lemon Chill guy got video of it on his phone.

Rob's not your buddy, pal.

Also, ban him is an inside joke.

Jeff, ban him!

I'm everybody's buddy. :)

What I don't understand how you can shrug off that behavior of said individual as 'everyone makes mistakes.' but my post is being dramatic.

It wasn't appropriate to bring this up in VF's new for 2016 topic, but it was brought up. We all have a responsibility to conduct ourselves at any enthusiast event to be respectful of others and MOST of all to the park staff. This type of behavior by that individual shouldn't be tolerated at all. That's not being dramatic, that's being honest. And yes, bringing it up over and over again to serve as a reminder to others is prudent here. A really cool event, that quite a few of us enjoyed and are very passionate about, is no more because that individual wasn't respectful to the park staff. Anger issues or not, its not cool and again should not be tolerated. It's as simple as that.

You shrug it off as everyone makes mistakes. My passion called you out on it. If you continue to standby and just shrug your shoulders and say 'everyone makes mistakes,' continue to tolerate this behavior, you're going to find fewer and fewer of these types of events to go to.

Take a stand man.

FWIW, Dave did something very similar last year before the CP incident at SFGAm and was again on line complaining about it. So this, IMO looks like a pattern of entitlement and abuse.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Raven-Phile's avatar

It may not seem appropriate, but it's relevant. He was making complaints about the other CF parks on facebook

Who's Dave? I'm out here on the fringe, you know.

I'm even further out. I have no idea what this is about, what it has to do with Valleyfair's additions, or who Dave is.

The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

Dave's not here, man.

(Do I win for first Cheech & Chong reference on CoasterBuzz?)

Until and unless someone else here is qualified to do a "Gonchback" - you can claim that.

But no, we've definitely used that before....
