Sorry if this seems a bit late to anyone.
Valleyfair is a great regional park for the upper midwest, it features some great coasters, but can't seem to bust out as a premier park. A great experience all the way through though and a must visit if your in Minnesota
Before I get too far into this trip report I must give you a tip from the learned, "Never take a coasterphobiac, and make sure that everyone in your group refrains from overdoing the alcholic consumption the night before you plan on heading out.
With that being said let me again say that I had a great time at Shakopee except for a few minor set backs in my party, that being that despite our early arrival to the park we had to waste a solid finding our coasterphobiac friend the right kind of drugs to soothe my friends week stomach.
First thing we did was hit the log flume which was nothing special except the decent last drop, and then headed over to a very underated river ride (You laugh our head off when you see where they've got the lifeguards posted here.) And while that did a great job waking some people up in the early morning hours we were all very wet and looking for a way to get dry in a hurry.
My first suggestion was that we all ride the Wild Thing, but that was refutted by shrills of fear from our coasterphobiac, and I figured that we were going to have to work up to the Wild Thing if we were going to get this guy on it.
So, we hit up the High Roller first. The first two things that come to mind was the long wait in the early morning for only a good woodie, and the fact that the I believe the ride operater has the world record for fastest time in securing the train. The coaster itself, like I mentioned before, is a good classic woodie, but the brakes and the lack of some needed paint and minor maintainence kept it from being awesome.
