I figured some of you might find this interesting but Valleyfair has finally opened up its third on ride photo booth at Mild Thing, and have removed the challenge park booth at the front of the park. Nothing earth shattering but info none the less.
It seems like overall attendance in the park is down but I suppose you can chalk that up to the fact that Valleyfair hasn't added anything ride related since Power Tower and the Half Pint Park expansion in 2000. Most people that come to Valleyfair aren't tourists but rather people that live in the area so they're looking for something new to keep them coming back.
On the bright side the rides department seems to be better staffed this year in comparison to years past and peope at the rides seem to be much better then last year's crew. Valleyfair went through a bunch of changes in the offseason (internally) and some of these changes are starting to pay off in spades as overall Guest complaints are down and from what I've been told people seem to be happier at the park.

Hey thanks for the info!! KicksTheSky and I are heading up to Valleyfair! for the first time since we'll happen to be in the general vicinity.
Can't wait to ride the rides, even though not that much is there. I'm excited nonetheless.

Robodud, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised with what VF does have. While Valleyfair may not have as many coasters as some of the other parks they seem to have fuller rides. By that I mean the rides themself tend to be a little longer then the same type of ride found elsewhere. Despite what some people may say I really don't think Valleyfair has a dud in the lineup.
Just a fair warning with your trip though, whoever designed the park must have been on crack at the time as the quickest way to whatever you want to get at is always the way that looks like it'd take the longest.

Last time I watched it they had shear terror on their faces..
Uhhhh.....were they afraid of scissors? Or were they being terrorized by a shrub-trimming gardener? :P
I don't get the terror thing...CoastaMidget was riding that thing at 18-19 months provided she wasn't sleepy. She'd just climb aboard with big sister and off they'd go.
The Mild Thing photo booth is a great way to rob poor dopey parents blind. You can reason with a youngun who's out of the sippy-cup stage.....which isn't as easy to do with the toddlers. They've got those widdle cheeks and stuff.

Last time I checked it was WILD Thing. Get it right people.
I don't think they'd wait seven years before providing on-ride photos on a hypercoaster, hmmmm?
You might think park employees (like VF fan) or weekly visitors for the past seven seasons (like me) would know the names of rides and attractions rather well.
Here, lemme grab your heel. If I pull hard enough and you can twist your toes out of your throat, then maybe, just maybee......

Last time I was there, we watched three rounds go through. I don't know if maybe they could see something we couldn't, but every one had a look of terror on their face as they came off the lift. Maybe they weren't ready for the ride to take off quite so quickly. You couldn't help but laugh though. I do like the photo idea, very few kids rides at the parks I have visited have had them. Mostly they are on large coasters. Plus the park has to get their 7-8 dollars out of you somehow. (But then again, I almost always purchase ones from parks I visit with friends)
