V2 in Reverse?

Would it be possible for the trains on a V2 to be reversed so that you get the twisting spike going backwards instead of forwards? If so, I could foresee a time when we get to try V2 in reverse...

I'm just curious if it is technically possible. LIMs work in both directions, right?

Well the holding brake wouldn't do much in that case. The only problem I could see is at the launch there are no lims from the station to the holding brake. Only from the station to the Twist so unless you launched backwards (Ouch) it would never work.

If you want to "get the twisting spike going backwards instead of forwards", then go to Cedar Point. You'll get both. And believe me, you won't miss the untwisted vertical spike. ;)

I am not sure, there is a mechanism on the left side of the track, that when the train comes back in the station is comes down and touches a pad. It looks to me like that's how they release the restraints, but I am not sure.

I think they're only on the left side and I observed this on S:UE...so I am not sure about the others.

yeah thats how impulse restarints work but what does that have to do with anything?

V2 or S:UE could never launch towards the straight spike though unless it was at a very low speed as there are no lims between the staiton and the vertical spike as there is between the station and the twsited spike.

If you are implying the release system woudl make it impossible I am sure that could be easily remedied, but that wouldn't make a difference anyway. I just don't see it being very thrilling launching at 20 MPH a 5th of the way of the spike.

Well if it's on the left and you switch the train around it'd be on the right. I don't think they'd go through all that trouble just to switch the train around for a little while.

If they did want too one thing they could do it slowly pull the train backwards to the end of the twisted spike, then launch it from that point up the vertical spike and so on.

OK So we agree that we will never see it happen in other words LOL
