Unusual Walkdown Experiences

Anyone here ever have an unusual walkdown experience? A year ago, I went to IOA in the early morning and went straight for Hulk. After waiting for the front seat, we (myself and 3 other front seat passengers) were launched and then suddenly we slowed and stopped near the opening of the tunnel. Two girls sitting next to me said, "Wow, maybe this is part of the ride" - referring to the sudden stop. I told them that this is not the way that the ride is suppose to run!

We waited for about 20-25 minutes looking at the twisted track just beyond the end of the tunnel before the operators started to escort people off. It was not a long walk down (less than 100 feet up), but it was fun to be in the tunnel. I had a small camera in my pocket, so I snapped a shot once we got to the bottom of hill to show people that I actually had a walkdown on Hulk. The station operators took our names down on a sheet and said that we could come back later (through the exit ramp) and ride the front seat if we see the Hulk running.

I rode other things that day, including DD-Fire, but I went back over to the Hulk just about once every hour - hoping to get that great B&M (full)ride that I got on Kumba at BGT, but it never happened. When I left the park that evening, as I drove past IOA I saw people screaming with hands in the air on Hulk. It was upsetting, but the walkdown is something that will not happen often. So, I guess I have to live with a partial launch - for now. I'll go back in 2002 and hope that the problem has been resolved by then!!

PS - Should I count my partial launch on my coaster ride list or wait until I get the full circuit? Those who rode it please feel free to let me know what's after the tunnel.

i remember the year that Anaconda at PKD opened..1991...we were in the front seat...2 hour wait...and the chain stopped at the VERY top of the lift. we waited about 45 min, then had a walkdown...14 stories on a narrow staircase!!! that was scarier than the ride!!!!

My most unusual walkdowns would have to be those I've worked as an employee at Cedar Point: I've walked down on both the Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport. And thank you much to the guests that do try to understand that it isn't our fault, and that it isn't an everyday occurence! It's great being an employee then, getting to help guests experience a part of the ride that few will ever see - the hidden catwalks, the behind-the-scenes, etc. In a lot of cases, that's worth more than the ride.

CoasterCrazy26, you sat in the seat, and pulled down the harness. The train went. You rode it up the launch lift. That means you rode it. Think of it as a shuttle with 2 stations. Go ahead and put it in your record!

Well, I was walked off the Legend at SRM this year...I was on the train that couldn't be brought into the station because of the dangling bell....

I had to walk down off of Big Thunder Mountain's second lift hill. We walked back to the station under all of the fake rock. It was pretty cool.

Jeff, If it happened to me I would be telling everyone! I think that is so cool, and I love to hear about it.

I went on Escape From Pompeii for the first time in my life last year. Well we went through all the fire and we were heading for the door. The door opened a little bit, and we stopped. Everyone was so confussed. The fire went out, and some flood lights came on. A lady came out of somewhere and told us we had to get off. I thought it was so cool!

I have a real interesting experience: 2 walks in one day!
I was on Adventure Express at PKI and on the first hill, the ride just suddenly stopped at the top. Im in the front car, just hanging over the edge. When they came and got us (after about a half an hour), we walked back through the entire ride. It was actually cool.
Then I went on King Cobra. I was in the first row of the second car, and half way up the hill, we completely stopped dead. After about 15 minutes, they came and escourted us off the hill. I got free exit passes to Vortex, FOF, SOB, and Beast. It was cool.

I was on Snake River Falls at CP. They just dispatched our train, and about 25' up, we jerked, then fell back on the rollbacks. So I said, " Great, anti-rollbacks, we will be stuck for a while". Some ride ops came up to talk to us, and after about 30min. a park rep. came up and said, " On the count of 3 everyone push on your lapbar." So we did, then they helped everyone down. A pretty wide gap from stairs to boat...They took our names down on a paper, and gave us tickets to go in the exit and ride front row of any ride except Millennium Force. Since that was the only ride I wanted to use it on, I kept mine...

Unfortunutly, I have never been lucky enough to be stuck on a Coaster Lift Hill and then have the great experience of Walking Down One, I would love that to happen at least once, but no luck yet.

However, I did once get stuck on The Log Ride at Chessington World of Adventures, we went up the final Lift Hill and were about to go down the Final Drop, when somehow a Few Boats got stuck at the top, we were there for a couple of mins until a member of staff came up and said we would all have to get off the ride, so we ended up walking down the Second Lift Hill, Pretty Cool actually. When we got us, They took our names etc and gave us a Free Ride Token but unfortnutly, I never got to use it as the ride never did come back in operation, Still Cool though walking down the Ride.
Last year my ex girlfriend and I were walked off Knight Flight at SFWOA we got walked off before the station at the readies.

does this count? i got stuck on boomerang at SFMW
PKI_MAN, there is no catwalk on Adventure Express, except for next to the lift hills and a narrow walk way (with no rails) between the two rails. On the 18th, of this year. I had to walk off of the Beast from the brake run before the station after sitting in the car for tewnty minutes. And the person ahead of me on the train asked the stupidest question while we were stuck. He said, "Can I smoke on this now?" My cousin who was sitting next to me said no, you`ll send it up in flames. The sad thing is is that this guy was serious.
