Universal Studio's Islands of Fear

Hello everyone, I wanted to give you guys all a heads up on Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Islands of Adventure. Tonight (Wednesday) was employee preview tonight...and I have one thing to say....Awesome! If you are planning on being in Florida during Halloween this is an event not to be missed. The park looks amazing, and the houses are even better. There are five haunted houses in all. Including Maximum Carniage at Marvel Superhero Island, Fear Factor and Scarey Tales II at Toon Lagoon, Project Evolution at Jurassic Park, and Scream House in Studio 22 next to Islands. The one thing however you done want to miss is the Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure Show held in the Toon Lagoon Arena! I know that a lot of parks are going to be doing the Halloween thing again this year but let me tell me Halloween Horror Nights makes and already incredible park into something like you have ever seen.

Heh! Good news for me. I'll be doing my first HHN this year. Odd thing being that I never went when I actually lived in Florida but now that I'm 1000 miles away I'm getting there for it.

LG, I'll go out on a limb and say that the event being moved from USF to IoA had *a little something* to do with your desire to go to HHN this year.....we'll be there the weekend after we return from the Bahamas....the weekend of 10/19.
Ill be hitting up HHH on saturday the 5th. Gotta get those extra 2 hrs in. Ill post a tr on Sunday or Monday

Hehe, just a little, rollergator. Actually we just happen to be visiting family this month so we're going to take a couple days to visit Universal and since we're there, might as well check out HHN. We just never happened to be visiting Orlando in October before. For the record we'll be there on the 23rd.

Hey guys quick update on what is going at Islands of Adventure. Tonight was the first night and even though it was a little busy it was not that bad. Be prepared to get there early as possible because Security is scanning with wands and metal detectors slowing down entry into the park big time. For those coaster's lover make sure you come and ride Dueling Dragons due to the sheer fact that ride is totally dark and not that busy....(4 train operation and no lines). I will post back when we get into the peak hours of the weekends but if you are coming on Saturday get out your money and buy a caretakers express pass. The regular express machines are not on and the hotel keys are not being taken. Just a heads up....don't forget Bill and Ted's and I hope to see you guys at the Dragons very soon.

HHN sounds like an awesome event, and the fact that it's at IoA is even better. Too bad I probably won't be able to attend. We are moving to Florida on the 28th, but I don't think I'll be able to purchase a season pass until after the event is over. :( Of course, buying one day tickets is out of the question since they are a little on the pricey side. ;) Hopefully something works out and I can experience this event. When we were there in September of last year visiting, they were advertising HHN at USF like crazy. Missed that one too.
Just a heads up for you guys regarding Islands of Adventure HHN....I worked on Saturday night this week and it was just crazy, crazy, crazy. The park was sold out from weeks of presales and more tickets were sold once the park was open. You could not walk anywhere without running into some drunk freaking idiot. Lines were forever, houses looked at 2+ hours for almost each one and Dragons and Hulk were over an hour and a half for almost the entire night. My advice stay away on a Friday or Saturday and come when there arent as many kids around. Also wanted to let you know that drinks and stuff are not allowed in any of lines no matter how long they are...so with a two hour wait make sure you get something in you before you go...."preferably not beer"....oh yeah, be nice to the employees too, we have the power to toss you out whenever we want.

Yeah, I've been scouring the net looking for info on this year's event and I'm finding very mixed reviews. Crowds and waits seem to be the biggest complaints. Also, in general, people who've done HHN before seem to be less happy with this year's event than people who've never gone before.

I'm a newbie to HHN - pretty much anything will make me happy. Even if it doesn't, Citywalk should make up for it afterwards.

I was there last on Saturday the 5th. I thought it was great. Sure the crowds were the worst I ve ever seen at an amusement park but that didnt bother me. Our longest wait was for Hulk which was 1 1/2. Not too bad. Bill and Ted Made the night though. I should mention that my only other experience with a halloween event is at a SF park.

I'll be going to HHN on Thurs, Oct 17. I have heard the crowds on the weekends have been horrendous...but I haven't heard anything about the weekday crowds. Anyone go on a weekday that can elaborate?

Joe, who doesn't care much about the crowd, as long as he's at IOA

Tonight was not so bad (Thursday) considering this was the first night during the week. I would have to say come on HHN during the week (not Friday, Saturday) and save yourself a lot of hassle. I have heard plenty from people around the park that this year is a great year, but they should have put it in the bigger park. Hey at least they gave it a try this year...the ? will remain where will it be 2003!
