Universal Orlando plans for 4,000-room hotel on former water park site

Universal Studios is planning on putting one of the largest hotels in Central Florida next to the old Wet ‘n Wild property. Demolition is still happening at the Wet ‘n Wild site after closing down almost three months ago. The 4,000-room hotel that is planned would be in addition to the five hotels on Universal’s property.

With three separate parking structures I think this could be more of an All-Star type resort, with three "individual" hotels making up one resort complex, or just three entirely different hotels that have a total of 4k rooms, but I doubt this will be one cohesive hotel.

Calling it now... All-Star Dinosaurs, All-Star Wizards and All-Star Autobots.

I don't look at hotel prices often, so I'm not entirely sure of the norm. Universal's on-site hotels already seem to be quite reasonable compared to similar accommodations at Disney. Even off-property, this is sure to add even more value when comparing the two resorts for the sake of vacation planning. I really like both Universal and Disney, but always steer away from them because I just don't see the value when I'm looking for coaster thrills. Now that I have a kid, the focus has shifted towards family value and a resort owned property such as this makes it a lot more appealing. Furthermore, it's nice to see that a former park is being re-purposed and not just left to rot.

If this thread could support a run-into-the-ground joke about a SFGAdv hotel, someone would have already posted one.
