Universal Orlando looking to open 3 rides for 2003

Universal Orlando is looking to put in 3 new rides in 2003 one in IOA and 2 in USF(one opening in spring and summer). Maybe this includes the apollo ride?

well, I've gotten a couple different stories from employees in Guest Relations at IoA...since there were a bunch of supes around, it really DID make me wonder why the second "story" had SO much detail. It did involve a ride themed around Scorpion King at USF. Iwas also given an e-mail address from which I got back a standard "no comment, we'll keep you posted". Well, the bimonthly season passholder thing came in the mail last week, with no mention of "coming attractions" (any Jay Sherman fans out there?). Another employee told me there was NO way they'd merge the two parks (a la SFWoA), and that future intense ride/coaster projects would likely be at IoA. Remember, I am GP and know nothing...do NOT mistake me for someone with knowledge...just a really nosy GP with a willingness to ask!

The real caveat here is they HAVE given me different stories every time, and that other folks have also received other "stories"...I consider them the anti-PKI of marketing, TOO much DIS-information, hard to know what to believe...

also noting, last time at USF, I made sure to get a ride on Kong, just in case...

I'm surprised there isn't any more buzz around this...

well, I really did try to hold off until I had something "official"....I guess this is as official as it gets...

that show was the friggin' bomb...er...I mean it stinks!

anyway, that Scorpoin King ride, you meant it would be at the studios part of the park, not IOA, right? I get a little confused with that situation down there sometimes.

...my impression was that the Scorpion King ride would be a flat-ride or sim or something similar at USF....again, they provide such a volume of disinformation that I think they must have a list of "park-endorsed rumors" by the water cooler...

good thing Comedy Central picked up The Critic, shame there were SO few episodes made....

I have to agree with rollergator on the endorsed rumors list. When I was down there a month ago, everone's story was IOA was getting an Apollo 13 attraction. When I asked them what Island that would fit into none of them could come up with an answer. Maybe because there ISNT AN ISLAND FOR SPACE BASED MOVIES!!!!end Adam Sandler-esque rant

The other one they kept saying was that Hanna Barbara was going and that Kong wasnt going anywhere. Next time I gotta talk to the Dippin Dots guy to get the straight answers!

I could have sworn the lemon chill fella said something about IOA getting a new ride in the Jurrasic Park area...

Excalibur Crew for 2002!

Please give them a new coaster.
I think the oddest thing about this news is that Universal is tying the projects to a strong first 2 quarters of 2002. It's almost as if the announcement is meant to boost attendance. If the parks are inetrested in getting three atractions for 2003, they certainly would have finalized the deals by now, right?

This is good news. Universal needs something new and fresh.
