From the blog post:
A roar went up from the crowd as the last piece of gamma-green steel was bolted into place. The track of one of America’s most beloved—and ferocious—coasters was ready to go.

On the subject of Dueling Dragons, I would think that if they were going to replace those, they would have done so while building the Harry Potter world. HP is their star attraction right now, arguably responsible for a good amount of their attendance. With HP land being so new, the park would look bad if they suddenly removed and replaced such a large ride in their newest, flagship attraction. The majority of guests will not know/understand/care that DD is in fact a much older installation.
I suspect they wouldn't care if the ride was closed either. I don't think many people perceive the coaster as a key part of Potter.

Coaster Enthusiast: I rode Hulk at IoA.
Normal Person: So did I!
CE: Yeah, but did you ride Hulk?
NP: There's another one?
CE: Yep!
NP: Where?
CE: At IoA, silly!
NP: Um...yeah. I just said I did.
CE: Right, but did you also ride Hulk?
NP: Um...
CE: At IoA?
NP: ............yes...?
CE: Cool, so you rode Hulk and Hulk, just like I did!
NP: Go to hell.
___________
I'll count it as one damn ride, thanks.

As with Hulk (v1.0), High Speed Thrill Coaster, CP's Wildcat, and Big Bad Wolf...sometimes the decision is made by Father Time before any of us is expecting him to. My thinking was that DD probably has *similar* mileage as Hulk...or would that be half as much for each side? Hmmm.....
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
I'm not so sure. The dispatch times have been historically dismal with rarely more than two trains running per side (prior to Potter). With four trains running on the pair in the off-season, I imagine they still send wait a little to send out a train. I've always thought that ride had the most beautiful queue that no one has ever seen.
