Its a convenient place to store them without a lot of moving.

They take them off while the weather is semi reasonable and stack them where there is a lot of manuevering room. When it's their turn to be shopped, it's no big deal to bring in a fork lift or stinger to haul them in to the shop. It's a lot easier than trying to remove them from the ride in December or January.
There is nothing unique about it. In fact, most of the trains at CP are stored outdoors on the ground, at least when they are not being refurbished. The Breakers parking lot is the de facto storage area for Raptor, Maggie, Mantis, to name a few.
I'm not saying anything thats wierd about taking them off the ride, thats a no brainer... This is just the first time that I have seen them placed for storage in an area that is that close to the rides midway / area.
