Two new rides slated for Knoebels in 2003

According to Amusement Today (see "Extra Extra" section), Knoebels will add a 12-minute chair lift ride and Super RoundUp for the 2003 season.

Chairlifts can be a little scary, especially the ones without the restraining bar. This sounds like fun.

Dude, you're getting an Intamin!

The article mentions that the skyride was "inspired" by views from the Giant Wheel and on top of Twister. There is one spot on twister where you can look up the one valley that leads into the park... really a neat view, especially on a "damp" day with little patches of fog rising out of the woods.

The Skyride will be built up the side of a mountain... Kind of makes one hope that Knoebels next coaster project (when / if ever there is one) would follow the same philosophy.

-----------------
Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

Funny, I was sure it was going to be some sort of tower ride when I heard the quote from Dick Knoebel after PPP, but this sounds much cooler. The park is in such a beautiful area that I'm sure this will be out of sight.

I love chairlifts, so this will be a great addition as far as I'm concerned.

Sounds pretty nifty. I don't see how it could top the skyride at Compounce, but if it even comes close to being that wonderful, it will be a fantastic ride.

If the shoe fits, find another one.

A chairlift would be a perfect addition to the park. I can't wait!

P.S. When I first read the "preview" of the topic, I though it said it would be adding a stand-up roller coaster...what stupidity. :)

Cool! I haven't heard of a park putting in a skyride...ever...very cool! Legoland could use one...along with a log ride. Super Round-up?? That's be cool if it we're the size of a gaint ferris wheel!

The last time I was at Knoebels my friend and I were kind of surprised that they didn't have a chair lift. I think it's a PERFECT addition to the park, considering the absolute beautiful area.

Should make for some great future photo opps. :-)

Are you sure? The Round Up is Made by Hubritz (sp). I thought It was an American ride.
i don't think it's made by zamperla..i just know it was bought used from them
So where are they putting this new ride at that they are getting for 2003 and Does annyone know when the waterslides are going to be done
Actually, at Amusement today they say its made by dartron, and i saw one made from dartron called the Zendar, and they look really cool. This may not be what they are getting though, just a suggestion. The chair lift is going near the bumper boats, but i dont know about the round up. I just hope they make them look more permenant then some more recent additions, maybe some landscaping. About the water-slides, i thik they should be finised for 2003. How many are they getting? I think the piles of slide peices looked too big for only 2 slides. I also saw some sort of a "Beach Shop" thing back there near the slides, any more info about this?
isn't Zendar one of those vertical round-ups? I think i remember seing one a while ago and it first went vertical then the wheel tilts so it's level but 20 or so feet in the air.
