Two companies make a bid for VisionLand at bargain basement prices

Two companies have made bids to buy VisionLand at a fire sale price compared to the $90 million 11 Jefferson County municipalities spent building the now bankrupt amusement park. In the only bid made public, Louisville-based Themeparks LLC offered to buy VisionLand for $4 million, a fraction of the $25 million asking price the West Jefferson Amusement and Public Park Authority sought. San Diego-based Team ProParks LLC also made a bid but would not reveal the amount or conditions. Paul McCrade, a partner with Team ProParks, said his company's bid was comparable to Themeparks' and between $3 million and $5 million.

Gam,

themeparks has always asked for bond issues to be voted on by the public here in arkansas, i do not know if that was the case with k.k. though. with the success they have had with magic floating bonds, and paying them back quickly. i see no problem. the people of the community will vote on future developement of the park. such as is the case with magic.

yes the taxpayer in the particular city may loose money in the beginning, but it always paid back, with interest i'm sure. tourism is a nice bonus also.

i don't know much about the other bidder. but i know what i have seen at magic.

would you prefer a conglomo franchise by it, and cover it with asphalt, and parking lot coasters, or have an actual park to visit.

i'm not being mean, or nasty, and not flaming. i only do that after a few bud lts. i really do hope themeparks gets the park. and the park knows it.

i'm sorry gam,

the way i see the amusement industry (bringing a park back from the history pages), is all based on what i have seen, and read about the team that brought magic springs back to life. i'm very surprised they did not approach these townships (actual owners-"taxpayers"), with a similar deal that they did here in arkansas with the citizens of hot springs since they would be footing the bill.

that part of the country where vision is scenic to an outsider, even though i only saw it briefly on the way to s:uf media day because i was sleeping, and the sun was coming up, and sleeping. i don't do road trips well, when it involves going across half the u.s., within so many hours.

i've said it before, and i'll say it again....i learned alot about the amusement industry in 2002.

some of it ain't good.:(

Being that I live about 50 miles from Visionland I had to reply to this. The problem is that instead of adding more cool coasters the managment decided to do stupid stuff like adding a dinosaur park, well over a million for that. They added a few little "carnival" rides and then increased ticket prices.... I can drive to Visionland in like 45 mins. I can drive to Six Flags Over Georgia in like an hour and 20 mins. Which would you do? Hell yeah It's SF all the way..... All those cool coasters.....
