twister or hops?

i have been thinking about this question for a long time now. which type of woody would you rather be on?

twister-ex. hp wildcat, beast, lightning racer

or up and down-ex. villain, shivering timbers, big dipper

i would definately rather be on the airtime filled wooden coaster anyday of the week. the only twister i really enjoyed was hp wildcat. i cant wait till i ride shivering timbers next year.

I've only been on one good (and I stress good) twister, that being Roar at SFA. I liked it, and wish it wasn't so damn hot the day I was there so I could ride it some more. That said, I love Villain (I just wish it was at a different park).

My favorites are the ones that combine both, like Villain and Ghostrider. But to answner your question as you asked it, give me the airtime humps anyday!
I would have to go with a really good twister like ROAR (SFMW). Im a big fan of high speed turns and good laterals. The up and down, out and back stuff is just kinda boring. I wish we had a good woodie like Roar at MM.
I guess I would have to say I like twisters (Viper, SOB, Roar) better, but I havent been on any outstanding out n backs (racer, rebel yell...). I just wish I could get to Shivering Timbers....That ride looks phenomenal
Same as Revolutionary for me. I like twisters.
Definitely twisters, GCI's twisters are wonderful.

In relation to the first thread in this topic, I wouldn't consider The Beast a twister nor an out and back. The only time it gets twisted is the double helix, and theres also some out and back coasters that have helices. The beast isn't really an out and back either.

Give me the airtime. (have I ever mentioned that Shivering Timbers IS the perfect coaster? IMO) Twisters throw you around from side to side, with my arms in the air, it is painful sometimes.

The Beast is considered by most to be a "terrain coaster" since it follows the ground and natural hills for most of the ride.

Some people call Ghostrider a twister, it is actually a double out & back with a 90 degree turn in the middle. A fabulous coaster considering all of the limited space issues that went into its design. (A&E's #1 woodie in the world. Not mine, however)

Gotta ride 'em all!
Yeah, Ghostrider is a definite top 5 woody. With the opining of Boulder Dash, Legend and Hurricane, the competition for best wooden coaster seems to change daily. ST one day, then Legend, then Boulder Dash, Villain and back to Ghostrider and Raven. It is a great thing to have so many in the US, even though the steel "hype" machines grab all the headlines.

I'll probably have to go with an airtime filled coaster. But I like zero g airtime, like on the timbers. Not like the airtime that just tries to whip you out of your seat, although I have never been on a GOOD twister, so my opinion could change. SOGGY- You are So right, Shivering Timbers is 99% perfect, and not enough people have rode it.

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
If anyone remembers WoodchipWoodchip at Crumbly Woods on the old RCT- that would be the ideal wooden for me. It combines nice hills with fast turns amongst the trees.
i remember that, man if you could ride the coasters you make in rct, it would be the ultimate game ever!

I love both and any combination of the two!

Shivering Timbers during TimbersFest June 3rd was phenominal.
AIRTIME! AIRTIME! AIRTIME!,
One really good lateral on the turnaround,
the Trick Track,
and a great Helix!

ROAR SFA – runs sweet with good power
Lightning Racer – just plain fun
Wildcat – great power

They all are fun, CoasterEd
Twisters by a long shot. Whats better than diving down a hill thru a wooden structure with tons of head chopping lumber screamin toward you! Especially when your sitting in the back and see people in front of you duck and put their hands down. It gives me a warm spot in the gut. OOPS! Thats the puke from someone in front of me. ;)

If I had to pick one, I'd say airtime, but then again, I've never been on a real wooden twister.
I have been on the Villain, and I think that does pull some good lateral g's in addition to airtime. What I love about it that every hill seems to change direction, not only producing airtime, but throwing you to into the sides of those Gerstlauer lapbars. The fact that SFO had to add extra padding to the bars proves this. I love the hill after the first turnaround. It just rips you out of your seat. To answer the topic, I think the perfect woodie is a combination between the twister and hops.
hops, barley, yeast, grains. Oops!! I forgot, this was about coasters. That 12 oz cold daddy in front of you can mess with your head!!!!
I personaly think that those Gerstlauer lapbars suck very much, they don't give you much freedom
