TTD's Famous Spiders...

OK all joking aside nobody answered my question, What kind of lens is on the webcam. Is it a telephoto lens or are bugs crawling on the lens actual size?
Wide angle lenses, fisheye to be exact. The bugs are actual size.

Are you sure about that, Magnum Force? Logic would seem to indicate that, for the spider to be life-size on the screen (which I think is what he was talking about), the lense for the camera would have to be at leasts as large as the picture on the screen. I find that unlikely.

Now that's a BIG spider!!!!!!

Put a bug on your eyeball and see how big it looks. ;)

The lens is definitely fisheye.

I HATE SPIDERS!!!!!!! I guess I will have to have a can of Raid next to the sunblock. 200 ft tall spider or not nothing will keep me from riding TTD. Hmmm, could slow my walk to the ride down a bit tho.

The thing of it is, though, Magnum Force, if I put a spider that big up to my eye, I wouldn't see it at all. It would comepletely cover the eyeball. So, in order for the spider's entire outline to be seen, when placed directly on top of the lense, the entire outline of the spider itself must fit on the lense, no? That would make the actual spider considerably smaller than what we see on the screen, assuming that the lense of the camera itself is small than the picture.

But the spider is not on the lens. The spider is on the glass an inch or two in front of the glass.

Okay, maybe I don't understand the setup, here... I'm going under the assumption that the lense is the piece of glass you actually see on the outside of the camera. Also, I was not aware that the camera itself was behind anything: I seem to recall a picture of the infamous ground-level camera that showed it just sitting there on top of a rig of some sort. Is this anything like accurate?
