TTD Most Unreliable? - CoasterBuzz

Whats funny about it, i remember reading some Cedar Point rep being asked about the coaster count record (against Magic Mountain) and they replied something like "we prefer to have quality rides" (referring to the downtime of the new coasters at MM). That comment has come back to bit them in the rear.

I was at Cedar Point two weeks ago Friday and again on the Monday after that and I missed riding it oth times! I saw it testing both times but never got to ride it. I had really bad luck because t supposidly opened the weekend in between that. As long as it is up and running again now. The reopening was even on the news a few days ago. Is it up and running daily yet?

CP should have known the TTD was going to be unreliable. Just look at the Xcelerator and all the problems there were with that. Wicked Twister also had a lot of problems when it opened too. It had to be reconfigured and supports had to be added so it could run smoothly. I think CP should have worked out all the problems before they even opened TTD to the public.

I just looked at the webcam becuase there is sometimes a night shot. Right now there is a crane pulled up slightly past the station where the launch area and transfer is. The crane is leaning over to the transfer track. I know that the trains have been there for the past 2 days. I hope they are not removing them for anything!

In terms of coaster vehicles, aren't the Vekoma flyers more computer heavy?

I wouldnt say most unrelieable ever just yet, if they still have the same probs next year then I would say most unreliable. Cedar point seems to get there rides running, i remember the magnum had some issuses, and i swear it was broke the 1st 5 trips o attempted to ride the thing,,but since then its been running. I dunno I have always had bad luck at sf's parks and PKI they always seem to have multiple rides down.

If TTD shuts down for the rest of the season it will be the most unreliable IMO. It has already broken down something like 5 times and then closed down for the season....

This sounds just as bad as the opening of X when people were complaining about it but it turned out alright eventually. Lets hope TTD does the same thing. By the way how long was X down for before it reopened daily?

Um... ride vehicles, maybe?

I didn't say that they're the most advanced in the world, just that they have more computing power than the space shuttle (which is run by 086 computers) and are less advanced than Spiderman and, possibly, Mission: Space. Blame Absimilliard for the rest!

As for the Flying Dutchmen (Dutchmans?) I'd hardly say that the computations that are done on the ride are as intensive as those on the other rides mentioned. "Lower seats, seats lowered, lock seats, raise seats, blow up, repeat." Compare that to a ride vehicle computer that monitors and controlls speed, braking, pitch, roll, yaw, and restraint systems.

I love how stuff is being made up about CP's prior rides to justify the problems with Dragster. Magnum had very few problems its first season. The only major problem it had was a few roll backs due to winds gusts. Nothing was wrong with the actual ride or ride design and it ran very consistantly all season. I went to CP 5 times in 89 and it was up and running all day all 5 times. So you must have had some serious bad luck.

The only time CP has had any serious problems for a new ride was last year with Wicked Twister and this year with TTD. Otherwise their new rides have run pretty smoothly in their opening seasons. Even M. Force would run almost every single day in its first year. It would only shut down for an hour or two at the most and be open the remainder of the day.

My point? LOL I think alot of you are trying to rationalize the problems with this thing as it being new and a prototype. That is true, but there is obviously something else that is majorly wrong (design flaw?) that can not be chalked up to it just being a new ride for CP, especially if it shuts down for the rest of the season.

They will get the bugs worked out of TTD before too long. It may be next season, but I'd rather have it be reliable next year than up and down this season. :)

I Was Looking At The Webcams Today (On The Middle One Closest To TTD) And It Look Like It Had Red, White, And Blue Banners For The Fourth. I Think They Have The Bugs Work Out And Testing It Every Day Just To Make Sure And Wait To Open It Till The 4th Of July Weekend (Remember The Are Going To Make A Decision Thursday This Week About Opening It For The 4th) I Heard If You Even Go This Weekend (The 4th) You Won't Be Able To Ride It Because The Lines Are Going To Be So Long If Is Open. Do You Think Cedar Point Closes Down Roller Coasters Like For An Hour Every Day Just To Give It A Break For A Short While And Inspect It to See If Everything Is Right Because When I Go MF Is Shut Down For An Hour Every Time I Go. I Just Wonder Sometimes. I Can See Them Shuting It For About An Hour To Inspect It And Giving It A Break So It Won't Break Down.

And For Them Testing It Out Before Hand Remember It Is Ohio Here In Michigan We Had A Rough Winter and I'm Sure They Did Too. I Heard It Was Hard To Even Get It Up In Time For This Year Because It Was So Snowy And Cold.
