TTD Lights

Does TTD have lights on the tower that light up from bottom to top in a christmas tree fashion? Or are they just solid lights?
Can you see TTD lights at night from I-80-90 going west to chicago? because i think i saw TTD that night when i was going to chicago and it was a bright structure.
You can't see Dragster from 80-90 however you can see the halo affect of it's lights from a good 30 miles away.

The Christmas tree tower lights are now working. They go top to bottom. It looks really cool.
I bet having the lights must be really cool looking; however, I liked having no lights whatsoever on opening day. There was no countdown and thus the wait for the launch was almost as intense as the launch itself... well... not really but it was intense!

I would agree. It added so much to the anticipation and excitement of it all.

So then I take this this is an old picture. From this picture, there is only one light left on the tower. It looks like they took them down.

When I rode TTD the week before CM, I found that the countdown lights were no help whatsoever regarding preparation for the launch. The countdown is really fast and barely gives you time to take one last breath before you take off!

The lights on the tower didn't synch up with the lights beside the track and, strangely, there was only one green light on the bottom row of the tree on the main tower - on the right. The other was amber.

They seem to take advantage of the downtime generated when the cable snapped, as at the start of the week, there was only one pair of lights on the tree (I think - TTD messed up my brain a fair bit ;-) and when the ride re-opened on Wednesday, all eight lights were in place and working...

One's amber because when they recieved all 8 lights, they were expecting 6 amber, and 2 green... The company messed it up and sent 7 amber, 1 green. So, pretty soon Monty Jasper said they'll be receiving another green to replace that odd amber one...
Here is a link to a picture that I caught on the webcams of the lights lit up.

I hope they are working (as well as the ride itself) when I go there next week.

That does not look as cool as I expected. I thought it would go all the way down the tower. Plus why is one side more redish and the other is yellow. Come on Cedar Point!

If practice makes perfect but noone is perfect, then why practice.

Um, to me, it looks like the right side has color lenses on and the left side does not have them yet. That's just my observation though. I'd say there is nothing to get too excited about. I think Cedar Point knows what they are doing.

According to the general public, lots of coasters go straight down.

I agree with Boz. I hope that is only temporary because it advertises differently on the CP website and looks a whole lot better going all the way down the tower.

Cedar Points electric bill must be ridiculous. Do they leave TTD lights on all night? or turn them off at some point in the night?
Well, they turn them on when you can't see them anymore in the morning. But I agree those are powerful lights shining up on the thing. I also think it would have looked better having the lights all the way down, but I guess thats how they had too do it to make the lights be syncronized with the smaller tree (4 on each).

I don't understand why the bottom left light is yellow but the bottom right is green. Shouldn't both the bottom lights be green?
Bakeman,

CoasterCory has already said (above) that the company messed up supplying the lights and a green one will replace the bottom amber one.
