TR:TR

For the sake of the argument, let's say that TR:TR IS a themed Top Spin. Does this theory make sense? For example, is the Topspin the best flat ride ride out there, or does it have a high customer satisfaction rating?
Ok stupid question. What is a top spin?

Just hypothetically, I think it's an interesting possibility because the way the Top Spin is designed (where you can be pointed at different angles along the ride's path) could correspond to differently themed areas for the story aspect of the ride. Specifically, a virtual firepit on the floor while the top spin is in the uppermost position could be followed by locking the vehicle and tilting the car towards the "pit", which gives you the visual and real sensation of falling.

We'll all find out soon enough, and I know quite a few of us will be excited and enjoy it when it opens regardless of how the ride is designed.

Thrillfan,

I hear 'ya! I have a very good feeling I am going to love the ride, but that may because my way of thinking also. I really do pitty those that have already blown off the ride because it isn't what they expected.

Hey, Sean, some of us may end up blowing off TR:TBS because it is what we expected.

Who will reserve final judgement until he's ridden it at least once...

I really hope it's not that "top spin" thing, to me that is a spin and puke ride and I really don't want to be sick all day after riding it. My eyes will be peeled here to find out what it is ahead of time....
Siebert must really get a kick out of this Topspin nonsense ;)

Ride the New England Bush!

StaceyD, the Topspin is not a puke inducing machine in the least bit. It's rotations are too slow, and arc is too wide to cause nausea. Of course, your reactions may differ.

The word "definitely" is definitely the most misspelled word on the buzz.

Chuck, who just hopes he can ride it :)

But will the hype be more that the ride.....aka Flight of Fear???
The hype for FOF was better than the ride?? But what would I know. I was expecting a faster and scarier version of Phantom Theatre the first time I rode according to my sister. ;)

FOF I was expecting pure dark and scary music! Not colored lights on the tracks and some music you can't hear!
I don't think the hype will be bigger than the ride for those will reasonable expectations to begin with and those who are really glad that PKI is getting something this year. It has been about 4 years since a park about 2 and a half hours south of PKI has recieved a really major attraction(depending of what your feelings on wild mice and rive rapids rides are).

What about The Quake at SFKK? Is it a Huss Topspin "type"? It doesn't go upside down, just every which way. Just wondering....I like it.

No, Quake is not a top spin. It is a wakiki super flip.

No, the Quake is a Vekoma Waikiki Wave. NOT a Super Flip. It's incapable of flipping.

Actually it appears to be incapable of operating but that's another matter. Personally, I think the drive motors are "arguing" with each other, not that I know how to fix it. Each arm has a 2-motor drive, and if the motors aren't in synch you get noise, chatter, and system failures.

Well not actually *incapable*. I got to ride it last season. I actually kinda liked it because it was like a faster topspin without the annoying "Let's hold the riders upside-down as long as we can" mode. There was constant acceleration because you were always changing direction. And even though you never *fully* go upside-down, it felt like it a few times (kinda like on Millennium Force ;)).

The BIG PROBLEM with Quake is that it has a significant amount of headbanging (like most non-Flying Dutchman Vekomas). Not enough to keep me from riding again in the future, but it's doubtful I'd take more than 2 or 3 rides in a row.

Rideman,

Those that are expecting to ride something they don't like won't have to ride it in the first place to know what it is. I am almost certain it will have some sort of chicken chute for riders that simply cannot handle a possible intense ride.

I also rode Quake and find these thpes of inverions fun and NOT nauseatinmg....as long as I'm not rotating in a single direction on a horital axis, I can enjoy the ride...and with the additional theming, and I'm now beginning to "see" the utility of being able to pause in the ride sequence (perhaps) with projection screens...or am I reading too much into this?

begin late night rant: Also noting that with Angelina Jolie in an enclosed space, lots of riders wouldn't be disppointed with the close-ups! Billy Bob Thornton? She can NOT be serious! (heisted from J McEnroe)
