Trouble Finding Summer Coaster Camps

Hmmm I know PKI use to have this thing...I think it was a 3 or 4 day thing. If memory serves me right, you camped out on their campgrounds and then went and rode their roller coasters throughout the day, and learned a few things. Not sure of what year it was though, I would say with in the last 6 years.

I know SFWoA had A LOT of different camps for all(most) ages. And was actually starting to become succesful at. They had things like Shark sleep over, Wild Life week, etc. Many programs geared at towards different parts of their wild life. I do know they had shirts for the kids, but not sure what they said. Last year they did do something along the lines of physics over 2 days, but not sure of anymore details on it. I don't know of CP doing any camps. But SFWoA did host A LOT of sleepover camps for a theme park.

Maybe you could take a bus trip to some parks. Here in PA, Fullington Tours takes some trips to parks. I don't think this will work though because of your age. It's worth looking in to.

Do you go to church? Sometimes churches take their youth groups to parks. If your church doesn't do this, you could always suggest to them the idea.

Don't you have any older friends or family members that would take you to parks? If not, maybe you could look into Big Brothers to find a big that would take you. I know that it sounds funny to get a Big Brother just to take you to some parks, but it happens.

I remember a few other youngins here at CB that have had the same problem. I had the same problem when I was a kid. It's really hard for a kid coaster fanatic to not have any way to get to parks. I understand how you feel.

Just keep your ears open for any opportunities to come your way. That's what I had to do. I remember going to parks with my school, my cousins, my church, and an older frind of mine when I was a kid; rarely with my parents.

On the bright side, you only have a few more years until you can drive to parks yourself. It's tough, but don't let it get you down.

EDIT-I didn't read new posts before I posted. My post may repeat a few ideas expressed by others.

When I was in Jr High and lived in LA, the YMCA camp went to a different park every week. I think Mon & Tues were at the Y, Wed was a theme park/water park, Thur was a park (like with playgrounds and such), and Fridays was either the beach or the mall. They posted the schedules at the beginning of the summer, and I usually went to about 3 or 4 weeks each summer. I'm sure they still do this kind of thing, but maybe not on such a grandiose scale in other parts of the country. We would marathon Revolution (pre-OTSR) and Montezooma's on every trip!

PKI had the CoasterCamp just the one year...they didn't repeat it, the attendance was pretty low (I think there were about 50 of us total). Funny thing, I think there's three or four of us who attended it on this site...it was a GREAT event, Jeff Siebert is a MASTER....:)

There were ERTs, nice meals, camping, videos, contests, campfires, behind-the scenes tours, "activities" ;), and NO sleep for the entire weekend...

Best. Birthday. Present. Ever.

I envy you. ;)
