front car on mf. hope you have the chance to do it.
Well since I about an hour and half north of Detroit, your travel time should be around 4 1/2 to 5 hours depending on how fast you drive. When I went last year it took us just under 7 hours and that included a sit-down breakfast stop and at least one gas fill-up.

For rides, ride all the rollercoasters. (like I really needed to tell you that! LOL ) Since you are going early in the season, you will miss out on a night ride on the Beast which is an experience all of itself. I'm not much on flat rides and PKI doesn't have that many anyway so I can't help you there. I do highly recommend riding Drop Zone. That is an amazing ride.

Probably 4 to 5 hours from Detroit. Check Mapblast or Mapquest to be sure. (They may estimate on the high side)

What to ride:

Beast and Son Of Beast. Don't miss these. The reports of Sonny's roughness are generally exaggerated (it was bad very early on, but got much better over the course of last year; closing weekend it was great)... but just in case, don't ride in a seat over a wheel. 2nd seat is good.

Face/Off, if you like Vekoma boomerangs/invertigos and don't mind the long lines.

Flight Of Fear, if the rumor about the OTSR's being gone is true. If it's not true, then it's still a good ride *IF* you know how to avoid being headbanged to death. (A lot of enthusiasts don't like this ride with the OTSR's and I understand why, but personally I like it anyway, and hope like hell it really is getting lapbars. YMMV.)

Racer, if you like lots of out-and-back air.

Vortex is a good Arrow looper, if a little headbangey. Anyone know if they gave this a paint job over the winter? It badly needed it.

Top Gun is good but short. It's got a nice close call with Sonny's lift hill.

Adventure Express has a lame ending. :) King Cobra I usually skip. Rugrats Runaway Reptar is new, so no opinion of that yet.
No the Vortex did not get a paint job this year. rumor has it that it will get one for next year when it turns 15!
Everyone, I just thought you should know that Reptar is now on his perch next to the coaster named after him and Rugrats Runaway Reptar and Wild Thornberrys River Adventure are supposed to open for a media day on April 4 (so look for them on the local (Cincinnati) news! Hopefully, PKI wont have problems with any of their new 2001 attractions like they did with Son of Beast!
I'm about 45min, north of detroit, and it takes me about 4 1/2 hours to get there.
I'm really impressed with how PKI has shaped up over the last few years. What a great idea to add another family coaster, as well as concentrating on actually giving their attractions theme. Something tells me a steel hypercoaster will be next. I hope so!
