Trip to CP (Day One) 6/20

Associated parks:
None

We woke up around 8:00, and prepared for our drive to CP. After all driving and stops, we ended up arriving at the park around 1:30 or so. First we went to check in at our hotel room (hotel breakers), and check-in plus planning about meeting times and everything else that went on, i didnt get into the park until about 2:15.

Well even though my brother wasnt up to TTD, nor to much of anything else there, he wanted me to ride it anyway. With 2 1/2hrs till our meeting time, and a 2 1/2hr wait for TTD, we got in line. Everything went ok for about 1hr (3 train op at this point), and then it went down for well over an hour, but i only waited 45 mins of that. Instead, we headed over to MF, which sadly was also broken down. But just as we were ready to leave the area the train came and we were blocked by the gates. But, to my luck, a train went for MF as we waited so we rushed back and ended up with an overall wait of about 45mins and i still got a front row ride!

With all our time spent, we headed back to the hotel. I really just dropped my brother off, and i headed out on my own. The plan was for me to meet my family between 8:30 and 9:00, but it didnt turn out that way.

The first ride on my own was Magnum. Last year, i got horrible rides from this, but despite all reviews, i couldnt resist but to give her another chance. I ended up sitting in 2-2, and got a slightly rough ride, and plenty of air to go with it. With the beach/lake view, the air, and tolerable roughness, i was pleased and decided i would ride again.

Going by TTD, the wait still says 2 1/2hrs, but i notice atleast 30mins worth of people less than what i waited for the first time, so i got in line - and my wait begins.

Everything was going great and the line was moving well. There was currently a 4 train op, and i wasnt in the sun all the time due to the tents, so i was just fine for the time being. Then for a few mins, the trains stopped launching, and the next time i looked i saw a red train go, meaning a 5 train op. Another half hour or so goes by, and then i get the first of 2 break downs. Since i was much farther than i was before, i was willing to stick to it and wait. The downtime lasted about 45 mins, and when it got back up, i started noticing the 6th train (the black one), so i wasnt too upset about the break down.

For about 1 1/2 hrs, everything runs solid, and im about 5 trains away from riding in the front row. I got paired up with some guy named adam, which i wasnt too happy about being with since he tended to swear alot, and smelled kinda bad, but i was going to ride so it really didnt matter. Around 7:30, a roll-back occures. Using the 50ft per section observation, it went up about 200ft - just before the 90* twist. It slowly came back, just as claimed, but it turned out to not be just a rollback, but the worst break down of my trip.

Around 8:30, adam left, but i wasnt too dissapointed. After about 45 mins, i ended up being next up for the front row as soon as it started back up. Sadly, at around 9:45, they said TTD would be closed for the night, and we were directed backwards through the que. Everyone was given 2 passes. One good for immediate boarding privelages on any ride except TTD (which i used on MF), and the other is good for free way privelages on TTD, good all season. The downside to that is that if i dont come back to CP, the pass is useless, and me being from Va its not all that likely.

So with 15mins left till the park closes, and me full of energy from a 4 1/2hr wait, i ran to raptor for a quick ride. I got in for 2nd row in hopes that i would have just enough time to run back to MF before closing. Wonderful ride with no-trims! For anyone that hasnt ridden raptor without trims, your in for a suprise! When i looked at my watch, i had about 3-5mins before closing, so i got up and running. While on my way, i heard another guy yell "3 mins left" to his friend, so i knew i was in for a run.

Luckily, i made it in time, and after a 45min wait, i got a sweet ride in the back row, with only 2 trains worth of que left. I would have waited to ride front since night rides in front on MF get good reviews, but the op's said that they would take riders out of the front que and fill the train, so i rode front.

That rapped up my first day, and i was a bit exausted. I went up to our room, fell asleep, and prepared for day 2.

Sorry to hear that you got soooooo close, but were unable to ride TTD. Bummer. If you don't go back to CP this year, maybe you could put your freeway ticket on Ebay.

Lets go Drag racing.

Guess i could, but its useless if they start stamping for it.
