Today was an awesome day. Obviously you know I went to Carowinds, and had an awesome time. My three bud's agree. Here's the report! (Rides rated on a scale from 1 being worst- 10 absolute best)
Thunder Road (forwards) - Man, this seemed actually not too rough, and it was really fun. The first drop was great and I picked up some nice air on the way up to the turnaround. Great fun. Rating: 7.0
Thunder Road (backwards)- I know it's the same ride, but if you hitch a ride on the back of the backwards train wow, it makes such a difference. The drop grabs your stomach tight! Awesome air when you go down off the turnaround. Rating: 8.0
Carolina Cyclone- This was a nice ride, double-looping double-corkscrew, with an underground helix. Not alot of speed, at all though, but it was fun. Average Arrow, take the front. Rating: 6.0
Hurler- Nice first drop and *two right turns ;-), I got a bunch of air on the bunny hills, because I had my bar up(:-) a hand size off my lap, I wanted air!) I had to push it down during the ride because I got so much airtime I was standing on the hills. Fun time, we got in the front. Rating: 7.5
Vortex- Well, we almost had a heat stroke waiting in line for this one for about an hour in the hot sun. There were nice G-Forces in the loop and on the helixes. But the thing is, it's so short. :-/ Oh well, kind of disappointing, but still fun. Rating: 7.0
Top Gun- This one totally made my day, it takes the cake. I must confess we expected alot and got alot out of this ride. Amazing. It was awesome in the front seat, just seeing the track right below your feet. The inversions are awesome, so many G's. They had the mist tunnel turned off for some reason, hmm? Well I now have faith in Carowinds and my season pass. This makes the park. How is it at night? I can only imagine. Front Seat Rating: 9.5
Great trip, we rode Thunder Road 5 times (4 backwards) it had such short lines, suprisingly. We fit Top Gun in at the end twice, I need to and will come back at night to ride this wonderful coaster materpiece. Somewhere in between the rides we stood in front of the WWF bridge and got soaked, and picked up a large frozen lemonade and Dip'N'Dots. Everything else we rode once. I love my homepark. :-)

You waited an HOUR for Vortex? Lawd... that just ain't right.
TG is indescribable.
You missed out if you didn't ride Ricochet and Flying Super Saturator. I thought those along with TG were the three best coasters in the park!
Sweet TR!
Lemme see if I can put this correctly.. Top Gun at night is about 10 times better in the day, yeah that's right. Well at least IMO.
Also, to nitpick a tad, Hurler does not have a helix per se(hopefully I used that right), it's really just 2 right turns REALLY close, I mean, it does have a hill in between them.
Jeezus.. an hour for Vortex.. you are crazy..
You simply HAVE to ride Top Gun, Thunder Road and Hurler at night. Both woodies (or all three if you count TR as two coasters) have better airtime at night, and Top Gun usually picks up a good bit of speed at night.
Top Gun is fun up front, but downright insane in the back corner seats. The best seat in the house is back right, yellow Shark train, at night. The batwing and flat spin are very powerful in that seat.
It's worth at least one trip to Scarowinds - they do a pretty good job with all the haunted house stuff, and you can get lots of night rides on Vortex, Thunder Road and Top Gun. And TG seems to run even faster (and LOUDER) during Scarowinds, not sure if it really does or not - but I got my best rides ever on it last year at Scarowinds.

You're locked and ready to fly!
Yeah I was going to go on SS in the morning but it was closed... and then when we came back later, The line was completely filled up. I really wanted to ride it though. The same with Ricochet. I knew my friends would be shocked w/ the turns and we'd have a blast on SS, but the line... with no shelter from the sun(atleast on Ricochet).
But I can't specify why we waited so long for Vortex, (it will never happen again) they wanted to ride it, though. Maybe the staff spiked the Dip'N'Dots?:-) Anyway I will ride TG at night this week, I'm going again. I'll try the back seat too.... TG rocks!!

Nah, there were no problems with the staff, the crowds weren't too bad besides on Vortex, Ricochet, and SS....
B/T/W I'm suprised I've heard so many people complaining about a rough ride on Thunder Road. Mine was pretty smooth. I'm sorry you guys had a hurtful ride:-/.
Come this weekend I will give another TR and see the greatness of Carowinds & MI Top Gun.....@ night! !! I'm really excited ;-).

I'm going tomorrow night probably. How long is the ERT? I see you went to SRM, I've been wanting to join ACE for awhile, I'm probably going to join this year, or next. I've really been wanting to do SRM for awhile. It sounds like an awesome time. Well the urge for TG will soon be cured. Peace!
