Trick Track

I have been hearing this phrase for awhile now. What exaclty is a trick track, and what is its purpose?
Trick track is a supprise banked track at the bottom of a drop on a flat and straight section of the ride. I only know of 2 examples; Villian and King Cobra. I think it is more seen on wood coasters.

Shivering Timbers at MiA has this trick track as well. Of course, it's a woodie ^_^

Trick track is when the track of a coaster turns slightly left and right quickly to make the sensation of a coaster falling off the track and it seems as if you are going to fall out.

basically it is a piece of track in a seemingly level section that tips you to one side or the other (or even a quick dip)...it "tricks" you when you relax for a second...

Trick Track is a feature where a straight section of track banks slightly to the left or right, then straightens out and banks to the opposite side a similar amount. Think of it as a very fast rocking back and then forth motion.

(Not to be anal toward cdrpointcrazy4....but it's not so much the track "turns" as that it banks. Turns would imply more of a S-curve than trick track).

In addition to those that have been mentioned, Bouderdash has trick track, the Arrow mice have trick track, and one could argue that the entire length of LoCoSuMo is all trick track! LOL!

Thanks alot everyone. I asked because I read that Boulder Dash has one and I might be at Lake Compounce this weekend.

The CCI's I can think of that have trick track are the aforementioned ST, Villain, and Boulder Dash, and then you also have MegaZeph with some in there.

Am I the only one who thinks ST's trick track is the only trick track that actually feels like it's doing something? The other three didn't feel like more than a bump in the road.

It tastes like burning.

Some B&M stand-ups have a sort of "revised" trick-track, where the track "swoops" from left to right smoothly. Mantis does it twice; Iron Wolf, Chang and RR have one each.

IMO it's the best part of each ride.

Legendary - I'll agree that most BD's trick track is more track than trick. You fly by it so fast you hardly notice it. I'd much rather have an extra bunny hope than a flat stretch of trick track.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at MK has it- I think

I'll forgive you for scaring the hell out of me when your train stalled at the top of the lift when I was 6.

Ben - it does, at the flood scene. Its also hardly noticable.

Legendary - Had I not known it existed, I would never have even noticed the trick track on Villain.

Yup thats the trick track, it really throws you on ST but not nearly as much as the trick track on the Mouse does. I also find Villian's trick track a lot of fun.

Cool, I didn't know anyone was still doing trick track -- shows how much I know about woodies, I guess. I've heard it was used a lot in the old days and I'd like to ride it sometime and see what it's like (as far as I know I've never ridden a coaster with any).

Just incase anybody's wondering, trick track is also called jazz track but recently, people have been calling it trick track.

There is a section of trick track on the Georgia Cyclone between the second to last and last turnaround. Sitting on the right side you definitely feel it, and if you aren't ready it will leave some bruises.
