Traveling Tower (Launched or freefall)

Living in a Park Ridge, a suburb of Chicago, I attend a carnival nearby in Niles every year, as it is usually the best carnival around. Upon driving by, I noticed something I had never seen before at a traveling carnival...a drop tower! It had three seats on each of the four sides, and wasn't very tall (probably the shortest availible), but I was really excited. The seating reminded me of an S&S double shot, but I never knew that they were portable. The other name that came to mind was Fabbri, but I didn't see a tower on their website with this type of seating. Do any of you know which company most likely manufactures this drop tower?

Chance and Zamperla both make traveling drop towers.

Actually, I just learned Zamperla's version is only a park model, so I'm guessing you saw a Chance Slingshot. Was it yellow?

This is what a Fabbri drop tower looks like and here is a link to the Chance portable drop tower.

The Fabbri version looks too tall- but they both could be the one I saw. I'd probably lean toward the Chance model.

Moser also makes a portable drop tower, which travels with Conklin: http://www.carnivalwarehouse.com/mcw/photo_gallery/conklin_shows/index.html

My guess is that it was, in fact, a Fabbri ride, probably the one recently purchased by Astro Amusements, since they're based in IL. If so, get out and ride this thing!! Fabbri's drop rides are the best out there.

I saw one at a carnival at Balmoral Race Track in Crete illinois. They had one their. i believe it was the 120ft astro Mega Drop. Almost positive it was. It was a nice ride, except it costs $10 a drop.

Is that the carnival at Prosel Park. If it is, I haven't been there in years, but I remember it being good.

Although it sounds like the tower in question was the Fabbri tower I did want to add that the Zamperla version can travel, also. It racks on two trailers. Right now Mighty BlueGrass Shows is the only U.S. show that moves with one, there is one that moves in the U.K., too (owned by showman James Mellor).

Anybody know the model of the tower-esque ride that keeps showing up at the IX Indoor Amusement Park?

I snap flyers.

I actually went and rode the thing, and the ride attendant told me it was 92 feet tall. It was a fun ride for a carnival, but the drop was really short and cost $3.75 (not too bad). The carnival was a plain Fantasy Rides one, and the title "Super Shot" was printed above the seats on the ride. Also, I dont know if this happens on most drop rides or not (I dont reatlly pay attention), but this rack carries the car up to the top of the tower, and then the car separates and drops.

That is made by A.R.M., I don't remember what their generic name is, I think the Drop Zone.

Actually, it was at Our Lady of Ransom church.

For the past few years there has been a tower at the York Fair (York PA). The one here is a chance model and it is both a launched and free fall which surprised me. Watching it the first time, I saw that the seats were at the top and then dropped down (I just assumed they were pulled up there and then fell). I was quite surprised when I was sitting in the seats and suddenly was shot up to the top of the tower. Their production name is "Sling Shot".

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

I know where that is. I've never been to that one though. A couple of kids from my basketball team went to school there.

The Fabbri tower is fab... very intense. Rode it in the dome at IAAPA 2000. The Chance tower... well... I've yet to see one not down mechanical.
