When I went to SFGAdv this year I went to the safari park and while we were driving through the Baboon Village I saw that there was some coaster track for the monkeys to climb on. It was red, looked like arrow track, and it looked like the top section of a loop. I just was wondering if any of you knew what it was from.

Probably from GASM when they replaced the top of the loop with another peice of track that had better support. Whoa thats a pretty good way of recycling coaster track.

I think its a little bit of Lightning Loops.

I doubt it's Lightning Loops because both tracks went to other parks.

Its old track from the top of the loop of the great american scream machine, since when they first opened it somtime after that they had to re-enforce the top of the loops or the coaster would have tor itself apart so they replaced it and thats why if you look at the top of the loops they have a difrent style of track then the rest of the coaster also when they reenforced it thats when they but the latters on the sides of the loop.as for how the old peaice of the loop ended up in the safri i gusse they but it there for the baboons to house ontop of and hang around during the day.

MrMightyMouse is mostly right. I went every year around that time, and I think it was two years after the GASM was built, the ride was tearing itself apart and they put in the trims at the bottom of the first loop. Instead of scrapping it, I guess some bright person decided to give it to the monkeys. It's cute, and I remember when it went there we looked at the GASM in the parking lot and the top of the loops were all new.

It's one of the tops of the old GASM loops. If you look at GASM now, it is a different type of track...this one can sustain more G's because it has more cross-ties. Th tops of all of the vert. loops on GASM were replaced a few years back....I guess they just decided to give the monkeys something else to play on.
