Seems like most new coasters do not feature lights that run along the track. I love the way The Scream Machine at SFOG looks at night with its lights on. It adds nice little touch to a great ride. Are there many other coasters that have track lights?
Superman:Ride of Steel has track lights. However, they are not especially bright. Personally, I like lights on freefall towers.

Shockwave at SFOT has lights that run on the bottom rail (it has a box track). Some of them are out, but it still looks great!

If I remember correctly, Blue Streak at CP has lights along it's track.

I think when Tidal Wave was at SFGAm, it had lights that went against the train at night, making it feel faster.

V2, Deja Vu... how can it be better? Add Viper! Oh, wait. It's already there!
Lights along the track are good... but not all the way.
I like it on wooden coasters, but I don't want it for the entire ride... maybe the first drop or 2, then no lights for a turn, possible helix or couple other drops. then more lights.
If the entire track is lit up, it kind of ruins the experience of riding at night. It's nice for part of the coaster seeing the lights rushing by... but no lights enhance it even more because for the most part, you don't know what to expect next especially if it is virtually pitch black!!!
I just read an article about Drachen Fire that said it had lights on the trains! Sounds very cool!

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
Putting lights on something like the Raven would take away a perfectly great night ride.
Lightning Racer and Wildcat at Hershey both have tracers running their entire lenghts, and does the Wild One at SFA, for the first half on the ride.

2001- the year of flight!
Magnum had running lights along it's lift. They took them out because they supposedly looked like an airplane runway.

I think it'd be cool to have lights on the first 2 or 3 drops of a coaster that followed the coaster train. I think it would look kinda cool :).

Ghostrider has red tube lights all along the track. But they are pretty dim all the way, so it is still fairly dark and does not take away from the ride at all.

Home Park: Knotts Berry Farm!
but also Disneyland and DCA
I'm surprised no one has mentioned millennium forces lift hill lights. It has probably the prettiest light show of any coaster I've ever seen.
Yea, Drachen Fire had lights in the train. It was so cool to stand far away from the ride, and see the blur of lights speeding along.

Unless it has changed for this season, Magnum XL-200 has running lights along the lake side of the lift hill. What they took out was a strange high-tech strobe configuration that broke down frequently. Blue Streak only has lights on the outgoing side of the ride. I think Cedar Point views the coaster lights as being mostly for the benefit of people outside the park.
Hersheypark has lovely tracer lights on both handrails of the full length of all four of their wood coaster tracks, and along much of Sooperdooperlooper.
Stricker's Grove has actually installed chase lights on the Tornado lift hill if I remember correctly.
Kings Island has tracer lights on Racer and on the Vortex lift hill...and floodlights on the Beast. :)

I am pretty sure that the thunberbolt at KP has lights along the tracks. but they may only be on the section after the lift hill.

The one at PGA had the same lights...and when the train reversed, the lights changed colors. It was a great effect.

Decisions determine destiny; Destiny determines decisions.
Lightning Racer has the "racing" lights on both tracks as Ride Man said. Looking at it from the Wildcat or the Giant wheel it loks like a big tangeled mess of lights before you put them on the tree.:)
Wildcat also has chasing lights. Phoenix has them on the lift, drop, and the turnarounds but the bunny hops in between are taken in the dark.

Hello, My name is Dan and I'm a coasterholic.
Kennywood has running lights on all 3 of their woodies, but only on the parts adjacent to midways so the GP can enjoy, yet it doesn't detract from the overall experience.
