Well yesterday Brandon, my g/f and I made a last minute trip down to Kings Island for the day. We got to the park around 11am and to my surprise the parking lot was pretty empty. We got our tickets and we went straight to the back of the park to ride the beast. The Beast was down and we went over to the the Vortex and it was our first ride of the season. On our way to Vortex we ran into Randy Hammons and his son Chris. We rode Vortex together and it was out very first coaster ride of the new century. Overall it was ok, nothing special to report.
After Vortex we went and rode one of my favorite rides in the park OL:FOF. Our very first ride waited for the front seat. The launch was great and the rest of the ride wasn't bad. We got out and rode again in the back. When we enetered the the station we ran into Scott Short and Jerry Flemming. We rode in the back and the launch was felt even stronger in the back. When we got off I met Sean Flaharty and some more ACE people.
After OL we rode the Racer forward, overall the ride wasn't bad, the only problem was that on our ride they sent the backward train way before they went ours so the trains were off.
Next it was time for the Drop Zone. The queue house was filled and we waited about 45 minutes to ride. Personally this is the best drop ride that I have been on. I think that it is much better than Power Tower, and it is a great rush.
We also rode Face Off, Top Gun, Adventure Express, and the Flying Eagles several times.
We got a great ride on the Beast when it finally opened. It was running great and less breaked then the times I rode it last season.
We ended the night with the very last ride of the night on the Beast. The only breaks we hit were the ones in the break shed. The ending in the double helix was awesome. It was my very first night ride on the Beast and a very memorable experience. As everyone knows the SOB was closed.
