TR: IOA 02/18/00 (long)

Associated parks:
None

TR: Universal Studios Islands of Adventure (2-18-00)

It is hard to describe a day at IOA but I will give it the best shot I can:

My mother and I arrived at the massive Universal Parking garage that serves USF, IOA and Citywalk. Universal claims that this is the largest parking garage in the world and I would have to agree with them. After writing down were the car was we got on the quarter mile moving sidewalk that dumps you in Citywalk. We then turned left and headed for the ticket booths. The park was scheduled to open at 9:00 so we arrived at the gate at 8:15 and purchased our tickets. Port of Entry was open at 8:30 and we immediately headed to the bridge that connected Port of Entry and Marvel.

Marvel Super Hero Island:

The Incredible Hulk Coaster-
WOW, is the one word that I would use to describe this ride. I'm not going to get into too much detail on any ride because you really need to experience it for yourself. The launch was very smooth and fast and the rest of the ride was fast and fun. It is easily my favorite sit-down looper and truly a not to be missed experience.

The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman-
Again another amazing experience! Everything from the line to the final "drop" this ride has everything. The 3-D works really well and all the effects seem to be in sync so for example when a fireball is thrown at the car you can feel the heat. This is the greatest non-coaster ride that I have ever been on.

Doctor Doom's Freefall-
Believe it or not this ride has one of the coolest lines in the park (all of the lines are very long and elaborate). The story is well told and the music is good (I'm listening to the CD right now). The ride proper is very similar to Power Tower and is a lot of fun.

Toon Lagoon

Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls-
This was the longest we waited all day for a ride, 75 minutes. The ride was fairly good and some very interesting elements

Not really coaster related but is Emeril's related in anyway to that cook on the food network? Just curious.

Yes, it is his restaurant or at least a branch.

When i went to IOA for the first time 2 years ago,we got there about the same time as jeremy.Except then they didnt have the bridge to marvel closed off.At that time they were just starting to warm up HULK so it wasnt opened yet.But SPIDERMAN sure was.me and my friend hit that first,it wasnt even a five min wait. Then we waited til HULK opened up.We managed to get to the front of the crowd.WE ended up be the first one on the HULK that day.It sure beats waiting an hour. Then we headed to DUELING DRAGONS.We had to wait a couple min in seuss land before they opened that part of the park. When they did open it we rushed over to DRAGONS.We also managed to be the first ones on that ride to(thanks to the people in front o fus getting lost in the begining of the que line).WE must of rode that ride a dozen and a half times. It seemed like there was no one in this whole section of the park. They let us go through the side doors(i guess itsthe chicken exit) so we didnt have to go through th eque again. It was great with no crownds around.JUst a couple people here and there.WE were so dizzy after riding no stop ike that. That was the best part of the day. After that the crowds appeared and it was back to waiting in those massave lines.
Heres a correction to my reply. It was the summer of 98 when i went.About a year and a half.
Was it on a school day you went on hockeyman ?
