CP August 9th & 10th
Weather: Partly Cloudy then sunny and humid on the 9th-high 80s. Clear, sunny,
perfect day on the 10th-low 80s
Crowds: I’d say average for a summer weekday
Highlight of trip: MF, of course
This trip was the most anticipated trip for me since 1994, my first trip to CP and
for Raptor. This time I had been waiting since July 22 of 1999. Left Greensburg
PA around 7PM the 8th of August and 200 miles later we arrived at the Radisson
Inn and watching people return on the causeway from an exciting day at CP.
Next morning I woke up and it was gray outside, that always happens on the first
morning to us. Called for rain on the weather. Great. Anyways we had breakfast
and traveled down the causeway around 9AM. Pulled in the lot I’d say around
9:15 and was parked in lot 13. Oh boy, there’s MF, looks better in person than
photographs. “Hey its climbing the lift, look everyone....hey where’d go? Oh, its
already done climbing.” Uh-oh.
MF Five Rides-Two night, Three in mornings, two in a row. All non-TTR
We got in the park and everyone around us went into a power walk of sorts
rushing back to MF-the only ride opened to the public at that time. I went back
and expected a line of some sorts, but spilling out into the trail all the way past
the Tenderfoot Pass and stopping at the Petting Farm?! Wow. Surprisingly the
in “chugged” along. We got in the actually queue line..ZOOM! Jesus here comes
a train coming to the end of the ride...at 40-50 mph! First time riders [like myself]
are caught off of guard and some others watch it glide into the almost
non-existent magnetic brakes and makes a sound that I somehow like. What a
sound you get when the brakes, the roar of the ride, and the squeaking of the
wheels combine. I like it. Almost every train I saw waiting in the one hour line
had almost all hands up. Amazing. You get up to the ramp and the bunny栀漀瀀 椀猀 㰀戀爀㸀愀 猀琀漀渀攀 琀栀爀漀眀Ⰰ 攀爀⸀⸀⸀挀漀甀瀀氀攀 愀爀洀 氀攀渀最琀栀猀 愀眀愀礀⸀ 䄀猀 琀栀攀 琀爀愀椀渀猀 最漀 戀礀Ⰰ 礀漀甀 最攀琀 愀 渀椀挀攀 㰀戀爀㸀戀爀攀攀稀攀 嬀眀栀椀挀栀 眀漀甀氀搀 栀攀氀瀀 漀渀 琀栀椀猀 搀愀礀崀 㰀戀爀㸀 㰀戀爀㸀圀攀 昀椀渀愀氀氀礀 最攀琀 挀氀漀猀攀 攀渀漀甀最栀 琀漀 猀攀攀 瀀攀漀瀀氀攀 猀琀愀最最攀爀 漀昀昀 琀栀攀 爀椀搀攀 眀椀琀栀 戀椀最 猀洀椀氀攀猀 漀渀 㰀戀爀㸀琀栀攀椀爀 昀愀挀攀猀Ⰰ 爀甀戀戀椀渀最 琀栀攀椀爀 攀礀攀猀⸀ 夀攀漀眀⸀ 圀攀 琀爀愀瘀攀氀 椀渀 琀栀攀 猀琀愀琀椀漀渀 愀渀搀 䤀 最攀琀 㜀ⴀ⸀ 吀栀攀 㰀戀爀㸀猀琀愀琀椀漀渀 椀猀 瘀攀爀礀 昀甀琀甀爀椀猀琀椀挀 眀椀琀栀 椀琀 戀攀椀渀最 挀氀漀猀攀搀 椀渀 愀渀搀 琀栀攀 氀漀最漀猀 昀氀漀愀琀椀渀最 愀氀氀 漀瘀攀爀 琀栀攀 㰀戀爀㸀瀀氀愀挀攀 倀氀甀猀 琀栀攀爀攀 椀猀 愀 昀甀琀甀爀椀猀琀椀挀 漀昀 猀漀爀琀猀 昀攀洀愀氀攀 瀀爀攀ⴀ爀攀挀漀爀搀攀搀 瘀漀椀挀攀 搀漀椀渀最 琀栀攀 猀瀀椀攀氀⸀ 㰀戀爀㸀䤀 栀攀愀爀 ᰀ挠氀攀愀爀ᴀ†愀渀搀 眀愀椀琀 愀渀搀⸀⸀⸀圀䠀伀䄀℀ 䤀琀猀 氀椀欀攀 眀攀ᤀ爠攀 氀愀甀渀挀栀攀搀 漀甀琀 漀昀 琀栀攀 猀琀愀琀椀漀渀℀ 㰀戀爀㸀圀攀 栀攀愀搀 甀瀀 ㌀ 昀琀 愀琀 愀 㐀㔀 搀攀最爀攀攀 愀渀最氀攀 最漀椀渀最 㐀 洀瀀栀⸀ 䤀 氀漀漀欀 甀瀀 琀漀 琀爀礀 琀漀 猀攀攀 琀栀攀 㰀戀爀㸀琀漀瀀 漀昀 琀栀攀 氀椀昀琀ⴀ挀愀渀ᤀ琠 猀攀攀 椀琀⸀ 䤀 氀漀漀欀 琀漀 琀栀攀 氀攀昀琀Ⰰ 眀栀攀眀 氀漀漀欀 愀琀 琀栀攀 氀愀欀攀⸀ 䤀 氀漀漀欀 戀攀栀椀渀搀 㰀戀爀㸀洀攀Ⰰ 愀渀搀 眀攀ᤀ爠攀 爀攀愀氀氀礀 猀琀攀攀瀀⸀ 圀攀 昀椀渀愀氀氀礀 最漀琀 琀漀 琀栀攀 琀漀瀀 眀栀攀渀 䤀 猀愀眀 琀栀攀 戀攀愀挀漀渀 氀椀最栀琀⸀ 㰀戀爀㸀䤀 瀀甀琀 洀礀 栀愀渀搀猀 甀瀀ⴀᴀ夠漀甀 漀渀氀礀 氀椀瘀攀 漀渀挀攀⸀⸀⸀ᴀ†䄀䠀䠀䠀℀ 一漀 琀爀愀挀欀 椀猀 眀栀愀琀 礀漀甀 挀愀渀 猀攀攀Ⰰ 㰀戀爀㸀攀瘀攀爀礀琀栀椀渀最 椀猀 愀氀洀漀猀琀 愀 戀氀甀爀⸀ ᰀ夠漀甀 猀甀爀攀 眀攀ᤀ爠攀 渀漀琀 漀渀 琀栀攀 搀爀漀瀀 猀椀搀攀 漀昀 倀吀㼀℀ᴀ†䄀氀洀漀猀琀 㰀戀爀㸀昀爀攀琀昀甀氀⸀ 圀漀眀⸀ 圀攀 瀀甀氀氀 漀甀琀ⴀ猀漀洀攀 椀渀琀攀渀猀攀 䜀ᤀ猠 琀栀攀爀攀⸀ 圀攀 栀攀愀搀 甀瀀 琀栀攀 漀瘀攀爀戀愀渀欀攀搀 㰀戀爀㸀ᰀ氠漀漀瀀ᴀ†䤀 氀攀愀渀 漀瘀攀爀 琀漀 洀礀 爀椀最栀琀 猀椀搀攀ⴀ椀琀猀 氀椀欀攀 愀 氀漀漀瀀℀ 圀攀 栀攀愀搀 搀漀眀渀 愀渀搀 昀氀礀 琀栀爀漀甀最栀 䤀 㰀戀爀㸀最甀攀猀猀 愀 琀甀渀渀攀氀 猀椀渀挀攀 椀昀 礀漀甀 戀氀椀渀欀Ⰰ 礀漀甀 洀椀猀猀 椀琀 㰀戀爀㸀 㰀戀爀㸀圀攀 渀攀砀琀 琀栀攀渀 猀栀漀漀琀 甀瀀 琀栀攀 ᰀ䴠愀最渀甀洀ᴀ†栀椀氀氀 愀渀搀 愀琀 琀栀攀 挀爀攀猀琀 漀昀 㠀㈀ 昀攀攀琀Ⰰ 眀攀 最攀琀 㰀戀爀㸀猀漀洀攀 渀椀挀攀 昀氀漀愀琀椀渀最 愀椀爀ⴀ渀漀琀栀椀渀最 䴀愀最渀甀洀 氀椀欀攀 愀琀 愀氀氀 愀戀漀甀琀 琀栀攀 愀椀爀Ⰰ 椀爀漀渀椀挀愀氀氀礀⸀ 圀攀 㰀戀爀㸀琀栀攀渀 栀椀琀 琀栀攀 椀猀氀愀渀搀 洀攀猀猀 眀椀琀栀 愀 栀攀愀搀 挀栀漀瀀瀀攀爀 愀渀搀 栀愀渀搀 挀栀漀瀀瀀攀爀 攀昀昀攀挀琀猀⸀ 圀攀 愀爀攀 㰀戀爀㸀昀氀礀椀渀最⸀ 圀攀 栀攀愀搀 甀瀀 琀栀攀 爀攀琀甀爀渀 栀椀氀氀Ⰰ 圀䠀伀伀Ⰰ 洀漀爀攀 昀氀漀愀琀椀渀最 愀椀爀 椀渀琀漀 愀渀漀琀栀攀爀 挀栀漀瀀瀀攀爀 㰀戀爀㸀椀渀琀漀 琀栀攀 漀渀 爀椀搀攀 瀀椀挀琀甀爀攀 琀甀渀渀攀氀 愀渀搀 琀栀攀渀 漀瘀攀爀 琀栀攀 猀琀愀琀椀漀渀 戀甀渀渀礀 栀漀瀀Ⰰ 洀漀爀攀 渀椀挀攀 㰀戀爀㸀愀椀爀⸀ 一攀砀琀 挀漀洀攀猀 漀渀攀 漀昀 洀礀 昀愀瘀漀爀椀琀攀 瀀愀爀琀 漀昀 琀栀攀 爀椀搀攀⸀ 圀攀 昀氀礀 琀栀爀漀甀最栀 琀栀攀 琀爀愀挀欀 㰀戀爀㸀焀甀攀甀攀 氀椀渀攀 嬀最椀瘀椀渀最 瀀攀漀瀀氀攀 椀渀 氀椀渀攀 猀漀洀攀 栀漀瀀攀崀 愀渀搀 琀栀愀琀 氀愀猀琀 漀瘀攀爀戀愀渀欀攀搀 琀甀爀渀 愀渀搀 㰀戀爀㸀最氀椀搀攀 琀栀爀漀甀最栀 琀栀攀 戀爀愀欀攀猀⸀ 夀漀甀 昀椀渀愀氀氀礀 最攀琀 琀漀 挀愀琀挀栀 礀漀甀爀 戀爀攀愀琀栀 愀昀琀攀爀 㔀 猀攀挀漀渀搀猀 㰀戀爀㸀漀昀 椀琀 戀攀椀渀最 瀀甀氀氀攀搀 愀眀愀礀⸀ 䔀瘀攀爀礀漀渀攀 漀渀 琀栀攀 琀爀愀椀渀 氀漀瘀攀搀 椀琀⸀ 䤀 最攀琀 漀昀昀 愀渀搀 昀攀攀氀 洀礀 戀氀漀漀搀 㰀戀爀㸀爀甀猀栀ing back down to my feet. After that we decide to get back in the Frontier Trail line for a TTR for later on
[its around 10:45 now] Well we pass through the line around 10:55 and they
don’t end up handing out tickets until 11:30 So we stayed in line and got two MF
rides in three hours. Not bad. I came back around the MF area around 3:30 and
the line looked pretty short. TTR seems to work well. Another priceless sight: I
walked back towards the Frontier Trail and there was hundreds of people lined
up waiting for the open queue to open again. Most were sitting on the pavement
and some had gotten benches and slid them in line and sat on them! On our two
night rides, it was a different experience! The lift hill is a beauty and most of the
ride is dark! Waited 90 min for each times
Other notes from the trip:
-As much as I love ‘ol Raptor, I just can’t stand its line. It always has had the
longest line on every trip [except this year of course] It just doesn’t seem to move
as fast or maybe its just me. Two rides on best Inverted around
-Odd location for the relocated entrance to Mantis queue. It certainty adds to the
ride seeing MF’s 182 third hill right near Mantis. What a site at sunset. Anyways
I give my props to this Mantis crew. They had around eight people working and
they were hustling and running to fasten people up and and secure the empty
seats. This time last year when I went they were stacking all three trains. Guess
you just need a year to work some kinks out. One ride-30 min wait I think its
average coaster
-Taking a train ride on the tenth when we went by MF, I saw Monty Jasper
walking under MF’s lift. He of coursed waved to everyone on the train You can
get some good pictures from the train and also the cable spool for the lift is a
sight to see
-When I read on the 7th that Magnum’s lift chain broke, I couldn’t believe it. My
Maggie better. There's nothing like coasting over Maggie's thrid hill lookign like you're going into Lake Erie. If Magnum wasn’t around, then MF would be under #1
Contendership. MF is here to stay and mostly everyone loves it. I don’t mind it.
Overall another exceptional trip to CP. See ya next summer CP Thanks for
reading
