TR: Conneaut Lake Park 8/20/2004

Associated parks:
None

Went to Conneaut Lake Park Saturday. Arrived around 14:00 or so. Started, of course, with the Blue Streak. Seems to be riding better than last year (or maybe my memory has faded since last summer). Went from there to Devil's Den. Good short dark ride. Not quite as much fun as the Sally interactive dark rides but not a bad ride either. From there went (in no particular order) to Dodgem, Flying Scooters, Ferris Wheel, and Carousel. Flying Scooter's really seemed to move, much more than other recent rides at other parks. Went to dinner at the Hotel Dinign room (good food) and then the monsoon started.

General observations. On Saturday, the park seems more crowded than in past years. It wasn't crowded by a Cedar Point standard, but it was busier than other recent visits and also other parks I have been to recently. Hopefully this will continue. I was a bit disappointed by the number of rides out of service (bug, train, scrambler, yo yo, etc.), but I can also understand their financial situation, etc. Hopefully things will improve.

Nice TR. Yeah, there were a lot of rides down when i was there earlier this month. It's sad to watch the park go further down each year.
When we there, they shut the rides down like ten minutes early, stating it was for insurance reasons. odd.

Cool TR! Was the Toboggan running this time or?

When we were there on Memorial Day it was a nice crowd, more than I expected. Great little park! I AM staying in that Hotel next time around, though. It just looked TOO cool from the lobby.

I just thought I'd add in that this isn't 2004, it's 2005, on the way to 2006.
i've stayed at the Hotel several times. If you have a cool breeze off the lake, it's great. If not, you'll melt. No AC there.
The Toboggan ran when i was there. I even had the bruises for a week to prove it. :)

I thought the old Hotel was interesting and very beautiful. I went in there just to snap a few pics and leave until the nice lady at the front desk got my attention with reported "hautings" and showed me a book of ghost stories/photos. ;-)

I've got tons of pics of the Hotel. Didn't see any ghosts, but some of the shots look, differant... I kept checking the lens for fog-spots or smudges, but i didn't find anything.
Also, everytime we slept there, there were always strange sounds in the hallway at all hours. but everytime you look: Nothing.
Haunted, it sure could be. The rooms were sharp.
