Toy Story Mania officially announced for Disney-MGM and DCA

Earlier today Disney officially announced Toy Story Mania for both Disney-MGM Studios and Disney's California Adventure. You can see pics from the announcement here. Both rides are scheduled to open in 2008.

I know a lot of people are complaining that these are too similar to the Buzz Lightyear rides, but I'm pretty excited. Miceage described the technology being used and it sounds awfully fun. Fun ride for all ages, popular characters, high re-ride factor -- sounds like the recipe for smash hit to me. Can't wait to talk to Mr. Potato head!

Frankly this sounds very very different from Buzz Lightyear to me. And very very awesome as well.

Reminds me of all the "mini-games" titles coming out for the Wii.

Lots of little tasks to create one overall experience.

Sounds like a very cool ride. It also sounds like they are taking it one step above what Hershey did in terms of competition on a shooting dark ride.
