Toy Story Mania coming soon to Wii as a video game

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Like all good things Disney-related, Toy Story has found its way into Disney's theme parks, most notably in the form of Toy Story Mania!, a shooting gallery with advanced 3D technology. Now that attraction has been adapted to a Wii-exclusive video game due September 15.

Happy Birthday to my wife! Another option for her and my son to play when they get bored with Lego Star Wars (which is rare).

Apparently it's already available for the iPhone/touch platform. Kevin Yee did a review of it:

Yeah I have the iphone version and, eh, is all I can say.. Good for airport time passers.

Definitely waiting for the Wii version though.

Well.. After a full afternoon of playing Toy Story for the Wii today, the best I can come up with is, "meh"..

1st:

3-D aspect is sub par and really doesnt seem to enhance the experience enough to wear the blue/red cardboard glasses.

2nd:

They have the similar scenes you have in the official ride but with a twist. In order to progress you have to complete 2/5 of the round steps (each step needed depends on the round you are in). Theses tasks are fairly easy to complete while you rack up points (which is also one of the steps).

In between the official rounds theres a special bonus round (not found in the official attraction) that adds to your points. They vary from shooting something to using the motion sensors of your Wiimote to accomplish the bonus round.

The accuracy is as good as typical Wii point and shoot games. You have cross hairs on the screen which sometimes get obscured by your paint balls, darts, or whatever the round uses. Or worse by your opponents targets. At the very least it uses different colors to distinguish. If you are color blind this game wont be as fun.

But all in all its good Wii game play, but I wouldn't run out and pay $50. I Would suggest waiting till it appears on the used unless you are one of those that has to have the new copy.

Thanks for the review, I figured the game would turn out to not be worth $50. I'll wait until I can get it for under $20 new.
