Tower of Terror (Tower 4)

Hey all. I was wondering if MGM's Tower of Terror has reopened yet. I'll be in Florida December 29-January 4 and really want to ride it with it's new program and new theming. Thanks in advance.

According to screamscape, the tower 4 program was scheduled to be up and running by dec 31st, though some had reported that it was running as early as last week. Either way, you should be in luck.

Yeah, Eddie, it's definitely open. What parks are you hitting? We'll be down there Jan 1 - Jan 5, and da Flabster will be there with Clay and Amy around then too! Meet up?

JC who cannot WAIT for Tower 4...completely random is the only way to go!

Joe,

Lynette, Chris, Mark, Mark's friend, Rebecca, & I will all be going to IOA & MGM. Rebecca & I will also be going to Bush & Magic Kingdom. I don't think we really have a plan as to what parks on what day though. Lynette doesn't do plans, so we'll see what happens. Who are you going with and what parks are you doing?

I still don't understand why they could run it for the press a couple of months ago but haven't been running it regularly since. Yes, of course I'm talking as someone who was recently there and missed out. ;)

DELETED!

Does anybody know how long it was closed for?

It was never closed. The effect changes and the testing of the programming were done in off hours, because the park has very early closing hours during the off(fall) sesaon.

In fact when I was there in mid-september. I experienced an e-stop when another car failed to exit the elevator up into the forward motion effects. Our vehicle then descended the lower portion of the tower and experieced the end-show video with all the lights on. After about 10 minutes our vehicle was manually guided by maintenance through the turn to exit, at which point we all got a good look at the rumored vehicle with all seatbelts instead of lapbars

I never realized that at the bottom of the tower the vehicles are actually in the maintenace garage. you just don't see it when the show goes as planned. Our party of 2 being the only ones to take the offer for an immediate re-ride, got to ride solo in another vehicle. Thank you Disney!

yes it is opened. screamscape said that it opened the 9th, but another source, wdwmagic.com also stated that is installed and is awsome..i want to go to disney world again

Surfs up in Hollister, CA! Later Dudes...

Eddie,

I'm going with Keith to all the parks. He's a first timer to them *all* so it should be pretty awesome! Also gonna take him on the 300ft skycoaster; he's never been on ANY.

The only day we have set is Jan 1 with Sea World in morning and IOA at night. Everything else is up in the air.

Anyway back to the subject, has anyone here done it lately? And if so, is it better than ever? It is my fav WDW (hell, anything Disney) attraction, and I can't wait to ride it, esp if it's better now!

I am gonna be down in Florida during the first week in January also. I plan to hit Boomers, MK, MGM, IOA, and Old Town.

We actually took a spin in the all seat belt vehicle when we were down for the IAAPA expo. Well, the whole back row had them at that point.. It definitely made the ride much more intense.

Yeah, I wondered why they could run it for the press and then not run it when there were over 30,000 industry people in town....that really sucked!

When coasterrod said that he saw the garage and all, it made me wonder, how many elevator cars do they have and run? I also was wondering, does the ride have 2 drop shafts and 4 loading ports. Because if i remember right there was 4 places to load but I never knew if after like the little thing where the elevator goes forward if the 2 trains merge onto one track making 2 total drop shafts. I'm just wondering about this stuff, so if anyone knows, thanks

Yes, there are 4 loading stations and 2 drop towers, and 2 exit stations. Its hard to see where the rails merge before the drops unless you look real close. They use mirrors very well in that area.
Sweet Deal I wanted to go to MGM when I go this Winter Vacation but I didnt know if Tower 4 was gonna be open you can be sure to see me at MGM sometime soon.

I'm not sure how many total vehicles exist. I know there were at least 3 not in use the day of our ride.

Went Dec 1-5 and just missed the new Program, but I don't care too much. I'll be back sometime in the next year or two. :) Still a truly awesome ride no matter what thanks to the show elements.
