I was there two years ago, and they still had the tower up. I have some pictures Here
"Moosh, Weona Park is in Pen Argyl, once the heart of the slate industry in PA. It was built in 1923, and from what I've been able to tell, it only had two rides then. A Ferris Wheel (probably a Big Eli) and the carousel. The later was built up from old stock in the Dentzel factory. It is one of three surviving stationary horse machines of that manufacture. As has been pointed out, it still has it's original factory paint. Over the years it wasn't repainted, which is what most parks did. They just applied another coat of varnish. When I last saw this machine about twenty years ago they had just started the restoration process. All of the figures were literally black from the decades of old varnish.
Wow... I didn't know there was a Circle Swing still standing in the U.S. in any form. And Lusse skooters? Wow!
I'd like to get my hands on some of those old arcade games! Was all that stuff sold at the auction a couple years ago?
Those photos were actually taken the day of the auction. I had stumbled upon it totally by accident. I know the skooter had a lot number to be sold, but I don't know about the old arcade games. I have not had the chance to get by there since that day.
Was it a set of skooters of just one?
It was just the one, and that one was in pretty sad shape.
Rarely updated, but that is OK; Penncoasters.com
Does the park have skooters, either in operation or in storage? Or was this one of those cases of a lone skooter that somehow ended up in storage while it's friends were scrapped years ago?
