Toronto Area Parks

I'll be heading to Toronto July 22-31. I'll have to bend over backwards to visit a park, and I'm wondering if there is any park worth hitting in that area. TIA.

Paramount Canada's Wonderland, about 20-40 minutes north of Toronto. (And my place of employment)

I just visited PCW over Memorial Weekend. It's worth the trip even though they don't have any coasters that will blow you away. They are more quantity than quality when it comes to coasters, but the park is clean and the staff is friendly. If you like to ride coasters, and a lot of them, this is the place for you. If you want a really great coaster or two, you won't find them here. Canadian Minebuster is a pretty good woodie though, and Scooby Doo's Gasping Ghoster Coaster is a good woodie for the little ones.

Number of coasters ridden: 162

I was at PCW just last weekend and I must say it is one of the nicest parks I've been to. Like SJCoasternut stated, there are no true "stand out" coasters there but they do have a diverse collection. I sort of prefer Wild Beast over the others.

Plus, at PCW, you get the Mondial triple threat - Cliffhanger, Shockwave, and the new Psyclone. I didn't get a chance to ride Cliffhanger but Shockwave and Psyclone are worth going there just for that.

Don't forget about the giant CNE (Canadian National Exhibit) that's held there yearly. It's got a ton of rides and games there. I just don't quite know the days it's held... all I know it's during the summer, and lasts a couple weeks!

....Summer is only a short 91 days long. How much of that time are you going to use at the amusement parks??

There's also a kiddie coaster on one ofthe Islands in the lake, I think. (Centreville Amusement Park). Within reasonable drive are: PCW, Marineland, MFI (great CCI), and SFDL (S:ROS).

My two favorite coasters are named Superman.

If you want to drive a little bit further, you can go down to "the Falls" to Marineland.

The CNE (Canadian National Ex.) runs for two weeks at the end of the summer.

I agree with the above - PCW is a good park, no "signature" coaster but tons of flats and an excellent water park. Your U.S. buck makes it cheap, too. The nearest great coaster is S:ROS at SFDL, but that's a MINIMUM five-hour round trip.

In any event, please enjoy your stay ...
