Tornado in Sandusky?

I lwas at the IX Center in Cleveland at the international auto show and when I came out the storm was just entering the area and I swear the wind was just terrible! If anyone's familier with the IX Center, the parking lot was pakced and we had to walk all the way to our car which was two rows from the back. There were 60,000 people in the Cleveland Area that were out of power last night. The wind in Grove City (near columbus) reached 84 MPH!

The winds yesterday wer insanely high. I was driving down the road, and the shear winds kept pushing towards the side and towards oncoming traffic. There were power line poles broken off at the base, branches down, and it sounded like my house windows were going to give.

Sept. 11th 2001, Slayer released God Hates Us All. The song "Disciple" uncannily describes the events of that day, as well as the anthrax letters that followed.

Hey B&M-TYCOON, where do you live in northeast ohio. You must live very close to me since you are talking about the strip in Niles. I live in McDonald, it's between Girard and Niles.

I can't think of a good signature.

Shingles and siding were flying around everywhere in my neighborhood.

The last two days were pretty rough on the North Coast. I was fairly alarmed and had a hard time sleeping, because I've never heard my house creak like it did (it's less than a year old).

Conditions weren't right for a tornado, as best I could tell.

It's just as windy up in Milwaukee. Heck we had thunderstorms and high 50's weather and then it dropped down to the 20s and we had a snowstorm with tremondous winds. The winds were so bad that a woman crossed the yellow line on a road and hit my dad head on. Not a very good Saturday although he is ok, thank god I talked him into getting a Volvo, their safety is amazing although the car is totalled. Drive carefully in this weather.

Milwaukee Wisconsin, we bring you beer, brats and cheese. But don't be fooled, "Milwaukee truly is a special secret getaway that I will be sure to tell my friends about!" Erin Brockevich, not to mention that we are an hour from SFGAm........

I spoke to my parents in Northern Michigan yesterday, and my mother told me of the horrific weather -- blizzard-like conditions, high winds, etc. The Mackinac Bridge was closed due to the 60-mph winds, and that certainly would have applied to the Cedar Point Causeway as well -- they'd not be allowing vehicles to drive across it with such high winds, and I'm sure the breakers were over the roadway.

I live in Hilliard (Northwest Columbus) and shingles flew off of my roof, and blew my trashcan onto the next street. Wind sucks.

Doesn't it seem as though morons always have the caps lock on?

It was very very windy in Detroit also... There was noticable damage from the wind in many places. I saw trees, electrical poles, signs, and much more broken by the wind.

Planned Parks for this summer: SFoGa, CP, SFWoA, SFGAm, SFKK, PKI, MA, SFStL, HW, KW. Is 10 enough?
Cornerstone Festival 2002... I will be there

I live in Louisville OH and it was crazy! I was driving down 172 and a HUGE tree was in the middle of the road... when I finally got passed that I made it to 30 before the hail hit and then on I-77 there was a light poll down blocking traffic so that was HORRIBLE. THEN I went out to eat and after that as I was walking back to my car....I noticed that some STUPID IDIOT HIT MY NEW CAR!!!!!! Totally smashed in my passengers side back door. THEN as I was driving my boyfriend home I got a FLAT tire!!!!! So now I have a smashed in side door but I'm also driving on a "donut" spare tire. Saturday was NOT a good day for me.

WARNING: Weather discussion ahead:

Here in Arizona, tornados are EXTREMELY rare. But we do have micro-bursts somewhat frequently during the summer monsoon season. What is a micro-burst and how does it differ from a tornado? Glad you asked.

A tornado is formed when barometric disturbances cause energy to compress winds in a circular motion, thus the "funnel" is created (mostly visible from the debris it carries) and becomes a tornado once the funnel touches the ground, where it is capable of doing damage to the surrounding property.

A micro-burst is very much similar, but consists of STRAIGHT-LINE winds that shoot down from the sky and curl up after hitting the ground. The damage caused by these micro-bursts is very much the same as a tornado, but the destruction is laid out in a uniform manner (trees all fall the same direction, walls topple the same way, etc.).

What specifically causes a microburst to form or a tornado?? I dont know.

Hey thats awesome. Both me and SWIMDEJ live in McDonald. We've ridden our bikes to Niles before. Where do you live in Niles B&M TYCOON, is it close to McDonald at all? I was wondering if there were any other coaster enthusiasts that live near me (Other than SWIMDEJ.)

Millennium Force......It has its ups and downs.

Well, I live right by Lansing, MI and Saturday the winds were horrible, as mosts posts tell, but there were trees uprooted everywhere, I swear, EVERY house around my area had shingles ripped off, and a tree fell right into the roof of a house, completely destroyed it.

People around here still don't have power, and won't get it back until Tuesday, which really sucks.
