Top Thrill Dragster in the News

On my local Fox affiliate for DC, they just ran a 5-minute or so long segment at the end of the 10:00 news on Top Thrill Dragster. Pretty cool, I don't know if this was national or not, but there was lots of footage on the construction site, an interview with Monty Jasper, and the animated clips of the ride. :)

Anyone else see this?

Haven't seen anything on the news in the Pittsburgh area which is surprising unless I missed it. I was surprised that their was an article in the New Castle News last week.

Sounds like you saw the footage from the Cleveland Fox station. The Cleveland station has been running a series of reports called "From Point To Point" about the progress the ride was making. LAst week Fox 8 finally had the chance to interview Monty Jasper and get "up close" to the ride. Hope the version you saw had the greeat shots from the helicopter looking down on The Dragster.

My local FOX affiliate station in South Florida "tried" to do a spot (1-20-03 9:00am) but , totally screwed it up...

I was surfin' the boards when I heard them starting the spot...Cedar Point annouces "Tallest Coaster in the World" so I turned to the TV and...

They where showing the TTD Animation clip while desribing MFs stats like height 310' at 80 degree descent...just trashed both MF and TTD completely and (the Producers who whisper in the Anchors ears) had no clue they were tellin' it all wrong!! They didn't even try to correct themselves...

But, then again it was FOX and they are the GP...

This year's press release came with a CD loaded with awesome footage. There's animation from all different angles, a cool commercial, clips of track pieces being lowered into place, a clip show of all of CP's coasters, and a ton of interviews.

I suspect all animation and interviews on out-of-state stations came from the CD.

Can you believe how much those CDs are going for on Ebay? I saw one sold for $125. I'm hanging onto mine....

FYI, all you New Berlin'ers, I am from Menomonee Falls. :) Anyhoo, I saw the story too and the best part was when Monty was asked about what would happen if the train didnt make it all the way up the hill and he calmly replied that it would roll back to the launch pad and relaunch again. I would be in my glory if that happened to me but I imagine that for people not knowing that could happen that there would be alot of brown seats afterwards.

$125? I'd sell my whole press kit in a second for that! It's cool to have it, but that money sure would come in handy.

However, I wonder if my selling of that kit would jeopardize my receiving of them in the future...
