Top Ten List is Getting Smaller

Don't worry, before everyone starts whipping out the CB Bible, and wants to quote it's scriptures to me, this is not a thread about an actual Top Ten List.

I was able to go on the ECC Germany list, a little over a week ago, and got to several parks that I hadn't been to previously.

On the trip I got to ride Geusente Sau? at Tripsdrill, and the coaster at Klotten as well(Don't remember the name of it at the moment).

These two coasters are what bring me back to the title of this thread. I now am seriously considering raising them to that elite 10 list that can never be openly discussed on this forum.

So I was wondering, without listing every coaster that people may have on their elite 10 list, does anyone else have a steelie that doesn't break all the records rated up there with the best of them.

For the record, I have at least 5 steelies that just about break the 100 ft height limit on my elite 10.

SFOG's Mindbender, SFOT's Shock Wave, DL's Space Mountain, and PKI's Top Gun to name a few.

Records mean nothing to me, hence why I still haven't returned to CP to ride Dragster. But Maverick will get me back there.

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

DL's current Space Mt that opened last year (way better than WDW or Tokyo). Killer ride...top 10 steel in my book.

Peabody, just curious, would you have said the same about the old version?

Oh I forgot one.....Canyon Flyer alpine coaster at Glenwood Caverns in Colorado.

I've always loved the Disney mountain coasters. The new Space Mountain is brilliant, but the old one was great and the one at WDW still is great. *** Edited 10/14/2006 7:53:21 PM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

matt: No. It was a fun ride and I liked it a lot (and the WDW and Tokyo ones) But, the complete overhaul they gave it at DL with the new track and effects put in my top 10 for just sheer fun.

Top Gun: The Jet Coaster at Carowinds is my number one steel coaster.

Prowler. Opens May,2 2009.

That and Montu are wonderful....you don't hear too much about them anymore.

It will be interesting to see how Maverick fares next year at Cedar Point. This could be another one of those steelies that proves that bigger is not always better. Stay tuned.

Arthur Bahl

Dueling Dragons, Incredible Hulk, Mummy's Revenge (Orlando), X, and DLP Space Mountain.

They once have held a record but are still awesome rides.

Top Three Parks: 1) Islands of Adventure 2) Bucsh Gardens Europe 3) Six Flags Magic Mountain

Top Gun: The Jet Coaster at Carowinds is my number one steel coaster.

That was my first thought, as it's basically perfect. Not to say that it's the best in the world, just saying it all fits together and flows perfectly. There's nothing I'd change about it.

Mindbender (SFOG) is in my top 10, but was probably alot better before the trim nazis got a hold of it.

Front seat on Volcano at PKD is an uncommon experience, one of my favorites.
Montu! Absolutely, positively, without doubt, one of my favorite 3 coasters in the world. In the front seat, it's probably unbeatable.

There must be something "the best coaster in the world" has that Top Gun does not (otherwise it would be), and therefore, you would add that as your change.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
Not really. The things that he might rank higher are things that an inverted might not be capable of doing, like airtime, etc. The perfect invert wouldn't be #1 in my book.

^ No airtime on an invert? I'm guessing you haven't ridden Top Gun Carowinds in the front row. The floater air on the hill back toward the station is part of what makes it the best of the inverts.

Still delivers like CRAZY when I get to Spring Fling.... :)

You guess wrong. Yeah that's nice, but nothing compared to the insane air other types of coasters are capable of providing. That was the whole point...there are some things that inverts don't deliver that other types of steel and wood can. So, the ultimate invert may not be #1 on someone's list.
