Top Gun at PKI - CoasterBuzz

Do they play the soundtrack while you are in line for it? They play it on Top Gun's line at Carowinds so I was just wondering if they did the same for the one at PKI? Thanks:)

They use to when it first opened up along with the great theming. Now, it's just a shell of the building that houses the station. Not much theming or music.

No Music what?

The music is constantly playing but not the cool theme music that they play at Carowinds. At PKI they play the soundtrack with all those wonderful (sarcastic of course)80's songs, If I was the Top Gun ride ops I would probably kill myself by the end of the year. kenny Loggins rocks man LOL And the theming is all still there, you just dont go through it anymore.

Its more less a re-creation of a inside of a ship. You go from land, across a long "plank" type thing and see a humongous picture - now a Gillete Mach 3 advertisement lol used to be a pic from an aircraft carrier and aircraft taking off into an area with missiles on left and right. From there you proceed past two places where it looks like a control tower type deal and a radio command post.

Then that leads back up to where it rejoins the current line. Top Gun is about to be taken down given a few more years. It was a big disaster over the past few years because of lack of track time. Little by little they have taken it down. The attendents used to even wear a military type jacket with a patch on it as well as on flight of fear which was better when it opened - they wore like AREA 51 stuff and a nice little baret.

I would like to see them reconfigure this ride. The gripe has always been that it's to short. And it is so take it out through the son of beast structure and give it a second lift. Repaint it black, theme it around some haunted area and presto!You have the return of the Bat.

Top Gun is no shorter than Batman: The Ride. It's perfect the way it is.

I do miss the theming though. The HUGE 3-D mural was really cool and the effect worked. I liked walking through all the cheesy dials and windows and fake smoke below the station.

Here's a game to play if you're in line: After you go up the stairs, just after the line splits, take the right line (for the front of the train). Look down. About 30 feet down there's some sort of generator or large box, with coins all over it. There are three levels, each smaller than the last. Try to get your pennies on the smallest level! It's fun.

This is my first year, and once you hear it so much you start doing wierd stuff (slowdancing with the hight stick is the wierdest I have done so far)
