Top Gun at Carowinds

Top Gun at Carowinds is a great coaster and Im suprised it doesn't get talked about in the forums! The inverted coaster has 6 inversions, no midcourse brakes, 1 tunnel and 1 trench, a BATWING!, and a uppwards helix. It is definatley a top ten coaster. This is a VERY underated coaster that needs some attention!

Actually this coaster gets a lot of attention but there are inverts better than it so its not gonna get the same amount as something like alpengiest or montu or raptar.

I'll have to give you my opinion after I ride it in April. Aren't business trips great? It looks great, though.

I agree, i've ridden Top Gun several times, and I love it. Frankly, I think Aplengiest is the best inverted roller coaster there is. I've ridden it over and over, and it never gets a bit less exciting!

(warning: extremely-biased post coming from the official top gun wh*re)

I really can't find a whole lot wrong with Top Gun. I've been on Top Gun, Alpengeist, Volcano, Raptor, and Batman, and IMHO, Top Gun whips them all fairly easily. The pacing, smoothness, and intensity are wonderful. Or perhaps after 200 rides, its just getting to my head.

I will agree with you that Top Gun is a top ten in my books. Granted I have not been on a few of the other big name Inverts such as Alpengeist or Raptor but it does in intensity compare to that of Montu before the Trim break was installed on the Batwing.

I think for the most part it does not get that much respect due to its location and confusion with other rides of the same name.

I think that Top Gun is a great coaster. I have ridden Fire, Ice, Montu, and Alpengeist. I think Alpengeist is better than Top Gun but Top Gun is a close second. I thought that after I rode Montu recently that it would become my favorite invert but that didn't happen. I guess it is because I went into expecting so much out of it. I love the speed on Top Gun. There is not even a second to think between the first 5 inversions. Is there any other invert that has 6 inversions and no mid-course breaks? Granted, Top Gun does get talked about sometimes but I dont think it gets the exposure that it deserves. It is a really great ride(just not in a really great park)

I've only been on Montu, BTR and Top Gun but I think Top Gun is easily the best.

I guess I'll find out this weekend! I can compare it to Fire, Ice, Alpengeist, Raptor, Batman: The Ride and Montu. I'll let y'all know what I think.

For a B&M, I actually found it enjoyable. I still prefer Raptor and Talon to it though.

Ive ridden Batman: The Ride, Alpengiest, Rapter, Top Gun, and The Great Bear. I think that Alpengiest is by far the best, no questions. Top Gun is the second best. I think Alpengiest is not only one of the best inverted coasters, but one of the best coasters, period.
