A lot of those aren't misspellings, simply shorter names because people don't want to type/say "I rode Boomerang: Coast to Coaster." instead of simply saying "I rode Boomerang."

Add in "The Villain" Most people plainly call it "Villain".

I don't mean to be a smart ace, and I'm not trying to insult you, but the word you're looking for is misspell. There's no hyphen.

Here's the coaster pair that I see getting confused a lot:

Colossus - the big white wooden coaster at SFMM
Colossos - the new Intamin creation at Heide Park.

If anyone is taking notes, please note that the coaster at Heide park has an "o" for the last vowel, not a "u". Anyway, there's my rant for the night.

Most mispelled coaster name- "X"!

ok, sorry, I know it's a bad joke, but I just couldn't resist it. ;-)

Willow? Yes, my name is Willow. Would you stop pecking on me on this big droooopppppppppp......
I don't pay attention to coaster misspellings too much, but like Brandon R. said I can't stand things like
"Who has rode the ____"
If it was someone from a foreign non-English speaking country, that I can easily forgive, but come on!

- Peabody
It's not a misspelling, but a lot of folks call Millennium Force "The Millennium."

Shock Wave at SFGAm often gets misspelled as Shockwave.
Some people think that it's Woodstock's Express or Woodcock (at least that is Guiness's rendition,) but it's really Woodstock Express

...Which is only confusing in the first place because it started out as "Woodstock's Express," and was changed mid-year in 1999.

I find it very funny that Millennium Force was misspelled in the misspelled list.

Shockwave is spelled correctly without the space. All park documents list it that way.

The Guinness Book of World Records lists at Cedar Point the "Woodcock Express" and "Blue Stack." Those aren't even typos...
I know this isn't a coaster misspelling but in Guide To Ride 2000 they misspell helix as helic many times.

"Oh no, I'v said to much. Smithers, use the amnesia ray." "You mean the revolver?" "Precisely, and when you're done be sure to wipe out your memory too". From... The Simpsons
The Guiness people have to get their kicks somehow... ;)

BMCOASTER,
As I right this, I am looking at my map from last year. It says Shock Wave.
And as I -write- this, I'm just wondering about misspellings myself.
(Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

I did it like this, I did it like that, I did it with a wiffle ball bat.. ohhh

Hey, we all make mistakes in bad spellings. Oh well and the shorter name thing does make sense.
