Too Many Coasters

Now that Cp is getting a new coaster and supposedly SFMM is they will both have sixteen. I heard the owner of CP talking about how you should be able to "Do the park in one day" so my question is how long do you think it will be before they need to get rid of some coasters?

Simple math, part II:

too many attractions to see in one day + returning to the park a second day = more money spent at the park by park guests [known as the "Disney equation"].

not everyone wants to ride Jr Gemini and such. I was able to hit all the coasters but Jr Gemini and WSExpress twice in a day without any problem.

More coasters = decreased line time = more coasters per hour = more total rides, making it probable that you will get on all of the rides =)

They get rid of coasters when coasters become no fun, no good, or turn into them old pieces of crap. Basically, when its too old to repair and the crowd doesn't like it anymore, its outta here.

I don't think they will remove any coasters any time soon. With the coaster wars and Cedar Point's obsession of having the most, I just don't see them removing any. Like Cobraroller said, parks don't remove rides unless they are not popular and cost too much to maintain.

The only thing that I could see happening is maybe they would sell one or maybe move one to another Cedar Fair park to make room for a new one.

They won't HAVE to any time soon, but I can still hope that they take out MeanStreak and replace it with a GOOD mega-woodie.

Spryboy, i agree....and intamin woodie perhaps??

Heh... you're reading my mind. That would rock. But as long as it had AIR I wouldn't mind who built it.

Maybe they could just get someone in there to fix Mean Streak and then they could remove some of the trims.

It is a great structure, one that cost a great deal to build and few people ride it. It is usually walk-on most of the time. It would pay for them to work out the bugs, smooth it out a bit and get more people to ride it.

I think instead of painting Magnum, they will just scrap it instead. Or sell it somewhere. Idlewild would be a terrific place for a 205 ft. coaster, don't you think?

Sheesh...enjoy the coasters while they (and you) are there.

Ah, I finally get my two cence in on Mean Streak...

Personally, I think this ride has to go. Not to put anyone off, but it was poorly designed. Something is just plain wrong when the structure can not handle enough speed to make the ride fun. While Texas Giant, the Beast, etc. all have trims, I have never heard any of them maligned like I have Mean Streak. If the ride can't hold up to the wear-and-tear it should have been designed for, then it's time to get rid of it. (Plus, the ride is so long, that even three train opperation feels like only two!). Mean Streak's plot of land is rather large, and would be, I think, an ideal place for a GCI or Gravity Group twister of considerably smaller proportions.

What pains me to say this is, it could be a great ride! I once got two rides on it in the rain. The trims were so wet, they might as well not have been there! It was almost three minutes of pure nirvana... lateral G's, suicidal plunges, a bit of ejector air, and those big hills that the train lazily crests, giving no air what so ever? Some of the most beautiful floating airtime I've evr experienced. Oh man, I wish Summers and Dinn had spent a little more time looking at their support stucture... it's a fatal flaw for their amazing layout.

But if The Point did get rid of MS, they would HAVE to put a new one in. I say they've got too many coasters when I can't get on all of them in a week.

No, wait. Even that wouldn't be too many.

...Now explain that one.

About Meanstreak, I happen to think that the layout is great, and has one of the best designs that I have ever seen for a woodie. I think that the only problem is that it's just too bumpy (it's my #3 on bumpy, the other two being The Beast and Son of Beast), but they can fix that...
