Tonerre De Zeus, any riders?

has anyone rode this beast? can i get your opionion on weather you think its better then the rest.
what makes it so good. i have seen videos doesnt seem like its the best ever like i keep hearing.

also any wooden coasters you think are better?

Its a wkd CCI coaster, full of action from the 1st drop into the tunnel to the brakes... the helix is amazing as its not really banked, even as it drops around the curves, so you get prolonged exposure to loads of lateral G's- The side wheels screech as it corners and its a really noisy coaster. There's a few large drops, and a lot of turns and crossovers, which like CCI's Megafobia makes for the type of coaster that gets people laughing, I don't thonk any POV can recapture that.

IMO It does stand out from a lot of wooden coasters, but everyone will argue forever about which is best, and thats a good thing...

Great smooth fast coaster

Europe Week 2, last park... Just wait for the trip reports (should be coming in any day now, tour's over and some people are home)

Yeah, I rode it yesterday five times. First ride was in the front row right seat and was *decent*, nothing to rave about though. In fact, most people disliked it and thought it was horrible overhyped.

Then for ERT I rode 4 times, all in the very last row. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Easily was the best wooden coaster of the trip and lands SOMEWHERE in my top 10 wood. It just had everything, air, surprises, laterals, tunnels, LONG layout, setting...a very, very good ride, one I'd LOVE to ride at night!

It's my favorite CCI, second favorite coaster.

Even tough I havn't ridden Zeus. I have ridden its mirrir clone like ride called The Timber Wolf and let me tell you that's a preatty good woodie. The Parc who built Zeus must of had people go ride Timber Wolf at WOF and wanted one of their own so they mirriored it and improved on its design.

Jeff, Did you forget to feed the Raptor again? That Raptor is not in a good mood. See http://www.orlandosentinal.com/business/tourism/orl-asecbirds19071902jul19.story?coll=orl%2Dbusiness%2Dheadlines%2Dtourism and you know what I mean.

Rode it a month ago and it was a pretty good ride. The back really rocks (I rode the front and it was decent - however, I usually ride the back on wooden coasters so this one was one of those. Definately in my Top 10 wood and one of the best ones on this side of the world.

what do you find better then this all of you?

1.Fire Dragon 2.Ice Dragon 3.Raptor 4.Batman Knight Flight 5.Kraken

I sure hope T-Zeus is better than Timberwolf. T-wolf was one of the worst wooden coasters I have ridden in the past couple of years. Probably due to lack of maintenance by Cedar Fair.

The video on Parc's website makes Zeus look out of control fun. The double helix doesn't seem to slow up. Have they added trims since this video was shot?

Hmmm...it's amazing how different opinions can be of the same ride, even on the same day. Having just rode this beast recently, I found the front to be lots of fun. It has a very interesting T-shaped layout. But when I rode the back, it was just awful. Incrediably rough, and not even all that much airtime. I liked Megafobia much better but after riding these famous woodies in Europe, I think the best woodies are in the U.S.
"sawblade5"...you are correct in the park coming to WOF and liking Timberwolf. There was an article in Amusement Today when Zues opened explaining how the ride is almost the same as T-wolf and how that came to be. I am halfway in each direction on the like/dislike factor. I loved the coaster before they added the brake to the drop after the accident in 95, and upgrading the trains to 4 wheels/head rest. I can say being an employee had it's privledges...we would ride T-wolf every morning w/o the break. Some people say it doesn't affect the ride experience, but it really does.

Greg Galley...you didn't like the back?! Blasphemy! :)

I rode with Rich Koppleman like three times in the back and we both agreed, there really wasn't much roughness at all. Some shuffle in the helix but honestly, there are SO many worse spots on other high rated CCI's. Maybe I rode in the "good" train? Either way, those rides in the back were really very good, and I put that ride at #7 on the Amusement Today list.
