and the submarine

I rode the Finding Nemo submarine ride last week too. First time. Is there another attraction anywhere at any park like this? It’s definitely unique and would probably not be made today. Slow loading on and off. Guests partially underwater.

Interesting ride.

Do kids these days even know who Tom Sawyer is?

My 14 year old daughter had no idea who Tom Sawyer and Mark Twain were. 🤣

I had to explain to her about Roger Rabbit as well before we rode that. Disney hasn’t done anything with that IP in a looong time.

Can you imagine if they ever retire the Carousel of Progress?

I haven't been on the Carousel of Progress since my first visit to WDW in pre-Big Thunder days. Have they added anything since then or does it still end with the invention of the microwave oven or whatever is in the last scene?

Last time I was on it they were talking to the oven and setting the timers and temperatures via voice, which resulted in them burning the turkey. The kids were playing VR video games as well.

If felt like a 1985 representation of 2025. It was awesome!

They also still talk about the newfangled inventions like laser discs, car phones and the wonders of "high def TV".

The talking to appliances thing is definitely dated, since you can actually do that today.

They could just replace the last scene with sand, and fire, and a bunch of dead plants and half collapsed buildings. That would be the most accurate representation of the future.

I predict it’ll be closer to this.

I prefer Brawndo thank you, it's what I crave.

Probably not newsworthy or big enough for a new thread, but Animation Courtyard at DHS is being reworked and that will include Star Wars Launch Bay finally being put out of its misery. It will be replaced with a new animation experience. The whole area has been a bit of an afterthought on my recent visits and it had been known as one of the better WiFi signal areas to get on the mid-day Rise of the Resistance reservations.

Agreed with your take, bigboy. The area needed a refresh. Frankly, the Art of Animation Tour was a neat experience and I don't recall the ability to watch real animators at work being the reason I enjoyed it. The show with Robin Williams and Walter Cronkite (you heard that right...those who never saw it) was entertaining. A refocus on Animation, arguably the heart of the company, is long overdue.

With all the live action rehashing going on you wouldn't even think Disney is an animation company anymore.

Encanto was terrific and Moana 2 was better than expected.

Bring back traditional hand drawn animation!

Elio was animated and just released this year. It got lost in the shuffle, but everyone I know who saw it said it was pretty good. Yes, it's Pixar not Disney, but still.

Honestly, I think y'all just like to bitch.

I thought Elio was computer animation? Not hand drawn like the old school stuff pre Pixar.
