Toledo paper goes to the platform of Wicked Twister

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

The Toledo Blade recently sent a reporter up to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, to check out the off-season activity around the park. While Blue Streak is painted, Wicked Twister gets ready for its first run.

Good to see that Blue Streak is getting some TLC.

i was thinking that Mantis was supposed to get some new paint this year as well, but on the webcam, it still looks like it hasen't gotten anything yet. Anyone care to spread a little info?

MAybe i am realy late on this, but does anyone else see the striking similarity between WT and the newly painted Montezumas Revenge?

Anyways it alwaysa nice to see the hustle and bustle of the preparation for the Newly arriving coaster season.

No, mantis, after long rumored, is getting repainted, no new paint job, because i recieved a 2002 guide in the mail and on the map, it is the sam colors as before...

nosk8er...

Or between Talon and Gemini's station?

Anyway, great to see everything is going smooth at Cedar Point.

I am glad to see that the Blue Streak is getting painted, but what about Magnum? The once fire engine-red track is now almost orange. Does anyone know if it has ever been repainted since its opening year?

First someone at GTTP and now someone here claims that because they received the Getaway Guide, they know Mantis is not being painted. How would the park map tell you if Mantis was being painted or not? First of all, they most likely aren't going to change the colors even if/when they do paint it and secondly, what color is Wildcat on that Map? I'll bet it's not white! :) Maps lie sometimes.

Having said all that, the last I heard the paintjob for Mantis was on hold, but that was a couple weeks ago and there's no telling if maybe something changed. I'd like to see it happen because last season the whole Mantis area was looking kind of grungy. Not just the ride, but the awnings, fencing, etc were looking pretty sad. I'm sure even if it doesn't happen, there will be numerous small improvements around the park for people to report about on opening day.

That ride looks so sweet. The extra footage on the drop looks like it will add huge intensity.

Not the Magnum color argument again

IT WAS NEVER FIRE ENGINE RED!!!!!

It Has Always been a Red/Orange although now it is just Orange.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?

I didn't realize there was a previous argument here, MagnumForce, but I stick with my belief.

Why are we worrying about paint color when IT IS SINKING?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Um, That be a bug i think.
First of all, they should not paint mantis. They should remove it. Dont get me wrong cuz back in 1996 when it opened, it was a great ride but its 2002 and its not so good anymore. And another thing, for all of those people out there who think that magnum is sinking, IT'S NOT, IT'S JUST A RUMOR!
