To the "X" riders. What does it closely resemble?

The answers I am probably going to get are "Its like no other coaster out there" or similiar answers. However, I would think that it might have the same feeling as the Flying Dutchman. Just seeing how you are positioned going up the lift hill and being spun around would give the feeling of flying.

Is it somewhat close or a totally different experience?

I won't get there until Media Day, but might it feel like the S&S absolutely insane rides?

Same kind of thing with the seats rotating to a facedown position.

Hi Chitown, I'm not sure if any of the other guys agree with me or not but in my opinion it is nothing like the Flying Dutchman.  Yes, the ride up the lift is similar but that is where the similarities end.  The rotaions are in no way comparible to the loops or barrel rolls that the dutchmans make.  I like the harness that X utilizes much better than the dutchman.  (I have only been on Stealth).  I think it gives you more of a feeling of "flying".
Certain parts of the ride do resemble Stealth/X-Flight. The out of control feeling you get as you leave the lift hill is very similar. The first Raven turn reminded me very much of launching up the back spike of V2/S:UE. There's nothing you can compare the spinning of the train to, I have never felt anything like that, it feels a bit unnatural.

X......IS.....COMING!
The first drop felt like Absolutely Insane, the first Raven Turn like a spike on V2 that bent over and you just get sucked up. exit of raven turn is like a Flyin' Dutchman similar. The backflip is just unheard of and insane. The last half of the ride after the turn around is just so disoreanting, but not to the point where it would make you sick, it's just so great! The inline twist element is unlike anything I can describe in words it just goes everywhere!

X would be like a Dutchman after the Raven turn, since you are in a flying position. The first drop (or the flip) is lik ThrillShot, the rest of the coaster is like being in one of those gyroscope things that spins you senseless, cept smooth as glass. Oh, the brakes are so smooth that I didn't even feel it as it stopped.

I beg to disagree with you SFMM Salvi.(There Jeff, is that uncrabby enough for you?) The only similarity to a Dutchman after the first Raven turn is going into the final brake/deload area on your back. The rest of the time you are sitting upright relative to the direction the train is traveling or being tossed through forward or backward somersaults. You wouldn't want to spend any real length of time in X's seats in the 'flying' position since your legs(a major portion of ones body weight) are unsupported and would be pulling on your lower back and smashing your pelvic region into the seat hump. The longest time spent face down is free falling down the vertical first drop and feeling like the train is pushing towards the ground.

As for comparing to other ride types, I feel it is more like an Inverted coaster only with infinately better visibilty for the entire train. Then again no invert makes the kind of moves X makes.

No need to be crabby toward people... everyone has their own opinion about how it felt.

"As far as I can tell it doesn't matter who you are. If you can believe, there's something worth fighting for..." - Garbage, "Parade"

So, to sum everything up, it's basically a combination of 3 or 4 rides?

X is unlike anything else I have ever been on or seen. You totaly feel like you are flying. But most of that time is spent upright. Not on your stomach or back like it is on the flying dutchmens. Hmmm, there is much more to say, but its X-mas and I need to get back to 'family stuff'.
X is unlike anything in the world, but the closest comaprison (which is still far off) is a Flyin' Duchtman. It's very disorienting, but no so much that it'll have u throwin up at the exit.

And the drop........my goodness what a drop

A history maker! Among the other people who were on the first train of X on 12-24-01!!

The "DROP" is rather insane. I like how it flips you head first before you completely crest the hill so you are already looking down before you even start hitting the 90* straight down track. SERIOUS thrill factor goin on here, and most the ride too. But the drop is the best. MAN!!! and the front flip you do at the bottom of the hill before going into the raven turn, WHAT A RUSH!!! The best is the front seat either side going up the raven turn, cuz at that point you are on your back going up into the raven turn as you watch the rest of the train follow behind you. Ive got X fever badly. I cant wait till I go back the next few days. Im gona be there most of the remaining preview passholder days.. Boy I can just imagine the line on opening public day. I bet its gona go down the stairs all the way down the hill and if they rope off and define the line its gona come back up past the stairs near vipers entrance. Thats my predictions on it. anyone else got a guess?
whats gona be great on that day and most the days, weeks, and even months for passholders is that all the other rides are gona have short lines in the morning hours. I smell a Goliath marathon coming up.

LETS ROLL!! This place is dead anyway!

I was thinking it might sort of compare to the Chaos Rides but on a track, is that what the seat rotations feel like?

I thought it was interesting that the americacoasters network guy gave it only an 8/10.  He doesn't consider it the best ride at the park.
Bull fan, Jeff also said it was a bit bumpy on the rotations (I think Jeff does the reviews, if not I'm sorry). I didn't really think it was bumpy at all, except for the turnaround into the lift hill, where it seemed to rock a little roughly. I would give this ride a 9/10 or 9.5 outta 10 since I haven't ridden too many coasters to say what a 10 would be. ;)

I need to ride it again. I thought it was good but, not THAT GOOD!
I give X a 1000000000000000000/10.

Its the greatest nothing can beat it.

Ive got X fever and the only cure is to ride it forever.

To be the first to ride X....I camped out in front and was the first in the park and on the first train ever!!!  Everyone thought we were crazy......until they got off that ride.  Now they know.....Magic Mountain's BEST has arrived and it will go down in history!

Its very fun and very unique and IMHO the best coaster at the park but its not the end-all be-all of coasters.  I still prefer SFNE's Superman and my top 20 wood coasters over X.
