Titan stalls at top of lift, riders evacuated

Some people get to have all of the fun. The 255-foot Titan roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas was stopped at the top of the lift. Riders were walked down after 45 minutes when the ride couldn't be restarted.

Read more and see the photos from WFAA.

[Ed. note: While it's always interesting when something like this happens, it's hardly news. The live cut-ins on television news are nothing short of disgraceful. The ironic thing is that Titan stopping demonstrates just how safe the rides are, with the computer stopping the ride because it thought something was wrong. Mainstream media should be ashamed. -J]

I can't believe that they even put 3 clips of the evacuation!!! That is totally pathetic.

I always find coasters stalling pretty interesting...like bloopers on tv shows. I was at SFOT just this past Saturday and as we were leaving we noticed the Titan had once again stranded passengers near the top of the lift hill. While I find it slightly scary that this sort of thing happens so much, we must remember these are machines and are totally fallible. Every time we step on a coaster we put our lives in danger...then again, every time we take a breath, step outside or get in a car we do the same thing. Nothing is infallible, and coasters are a fun reminder of that.
